I couldn't finish high school because I had baby at a very young age. I'm 17 now and I start my GED classes this Monday and I start my CNA classes on January 11th, can I be accepted at a hospital with a GED instead of a high school diploma:

Yes you can. You will have a diploma I assume by the time you are ready to apply. Most job descriptions say HS diploma or equivalent

That's the point of a GED. If the answer was "no," then there would be no incentive to get it.

A GED IS a high school diploma, so yes, you can work in a hospital.

I worked with a Nurse Practitioner who never graduated from high school and had her GED.

I started with a GED. Once you get your CNA, or LPN/LVN, ADN/ASN, BSN, or MSN then the entity really only cares that your certificate or licences are valid and unrestricted and that you have a decent work history (or none at all - kinda like a credit rating ). Good luck and carry onward to your dreams!

I live in a state where all that is needed to obtain a CNA certificate is a ninth grade education and a passing score on the state test.
The nursing homes and assisted living facilities will hire CNAs who do not have a high school diploma or GED, but most local hospital systems require prospective employees to have earned the diploma or GED.

Some employers might require you to be 18, but the GED is no biggie. My sister got her GED at 16, was a rockstar in college (figuratively) and will be a PA next year.

I think a HS diploma is pointless. Nowadays when you fill out the application they ask you if you have a HS diploma OR a GED on the same line. I have one and I work in a hospital also I'm graduating nursing school in 5 months.
Like the previous poster said, theres a NP with a GED :-)
