Can West Coast university classes transfer to other school?

Published

So I failed two classes and will be dismissed from west coast university at the end of the term. I am so depressed and lost and i dont know what to do right now.

first i failed fundamental by 2% because that classes was basically self-teach and it was more of a discussion class so i didnt know anything until 5th week of class. and now i failed the stupid mental health med math exam that we get at begininng of the term. we get 3 attempts and all attempts i got was 85% on each and we needed a 90% or above so i'm off by one stinking point everytime. Now i was wondering if theres any other school out there. I'm not giving up, I putted a lot of work already for all the GE classes and some of the classes in the core already. I hate my life now and don't know what to do with my life anymore.

Unless WCU has regional accreditation (and I don't think they do) no other schools will accept transfer credits from them.

Very few schools, even if you left in good standing, will accept nursing credits from other schools. I do believe WCU is regionally accredited in most states by a legitimate accreditation agency (such as Middle States), if so at least your general education credits would be transferable. Most nursing schools that consider admitting those who failed another program expect personal accountability and explanation on how you have or plan to remediate your deficits that caused you to fail.

Blaming the school for failing you by one point won't help, figure out why you got 15% of the medication math calculations incorrect. Many programs mandate 100% on medication/dosing calculation tests as its a critical skill needed for safe practice.

True, blaming the school for failing is not going to solve anything. I really don't know what to do with my life anymore, like all that hard work just went down the drain. I don't even have a plan b at the moment.

Let me guess? Even though you've failed out of WCU's nursing program, you are now on the hook for a staggering amount of student loan debt?

At this time, Plan B should entail figuring out why you failed two courses and taking concrete steps to ensure you never find yourself in that situation again. Actual nursing courses usually aren't accepted by other schools for transfer credit.

Furthermore, pay off any debt before jumping into the next educational venture. Good luck to you.

No I am not going to pull out another loan, WCU wasn't a great school to begin with, they're all about money, keeps calling me to pay my monthly payment especially when I am stressing out over a exam on the same week. But I love the professors and the students there its like we're one big family.

Last night, when I was just laying on my bed staring at the ceiling all night long. I was thinking since I just got certified as a telemetry technician from taking a class while in school. I'm thinking about just try to find a job as a telemetry technician to pay off my debt and go back to community college to do allied health to find out what other stuffs I'm interested in the medical field. I still want to be a nurse, but what else can I do about it?

I'm not officially dismissed yet, I'm still waiting for what the dean have to say. I just hope she understand on situation. *fingers crossed*. The dean just say to show up to classes before my meeting with her. But since theres are 2 exams this coming week, I feel so unmotivated and keep thinking about what would happen. Sigh..

How did the meeting go?

Does this happen a lot at WCU, where students are dismissed?

I didnt see the dean yet, she told me to meet her this thursday because she won't be at school until thursday. The dean just told me to show up to classes anyways, which I am studying my butt off for 2 exams tomorrow. I'm depressed but I'm trying not to give up or think about it while studying. I hope the dean just let go since its just one point off *finger crossed*

Yes, theres alot of students that were dismissed. Most of the time it would OVER STUPID SMALL stuffs.

You could argue a case for yourself if you passed the two exams this week. That is what I would do. Go to class as instructed, pass the exams and present a case to the dean to work something out based on the fact that you can succeed. Fail the exams or stop attending class and you have sealed your fate.

If all fails, look at getting an LVN license then pursuing an LVN to RN program as an alternative to finding an RN program that will accept you. You have a better chance with that plan than with finding a program that will accept you after a dismissal.
