Can West Coast university classes transfer to other school?

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

So I failed two classes and will be dismissed from west coast university at the end of the term. I am so depressed and lost and i dont know what to do right now.

first i failed fundamental by 2% because that classes was basically self-teach and it was more of a discussion class so i didnt know anything until 5th week of class. and now i failed the stupid mental health med math exam that we get at begininng of the term. we get 3 attempts and all attempts i got was 85% on each and we needed a 90% or above so i'm off by one stinking point everytime. Now i was wondering if theres any other school out there. I'm not giving up, I putted a lot of work already for all the GE classes and some of the classes in the core already. I hate my life now and don't know what to do with my life anymore.

Since one of the dean told me to meet up with her on thursday, which i am currently waiting right now for TOMORROW. My professor remembered that i failed med math so she took me out of class at break and took me to go talk to this dean i never heard of. my professor was vouching for me that i was the only one perfected her exam today 50/50 100% in mental health class which i thought the exam was extremely hard... as I was explaining to the dean that the ATI med math mental health exam 3 questions were re-worded weird that I know how to do med math. then she pulled out a pen and paper and told me to tell her what questions were weird and what the number is that question. And of course i told her that I forgot what number and that the all questions orders are randomly. Then she send me to the campus to fill out about dismissal stuffs blah blah blah. but the office at the campus told me to go talk to the other dean that I was suppose to meet tomorrow. BECAUSE SUPPOSELY THE DEAN I TALKED TO TODAY WAS NOT A NURSE OR ANYTHING SO SHE DOESN'T KNOW MUCH AND WHAT IS WHAT AND IS NOT VERY UNDERSTANDING. I was tearing up while driving home.

I got 100% on calculation part of the med math.

i remember one of the weird question which is like this

A physican is prescribing an order of (Drug name) 20mg. Which of the following needs to be clarify

A. Medication

B. Route

C. Frequency

D. Dosage

well of course frequency and route were missing. So I picked route. thats how weird the questions were...

Lets see what happen tomorrow.

So what happened?

Was it supposed to be a select all that apply question? And you should have picked both frequency AND route?

Had there been a positive outcome, I think the OP would have been back to this thread already. Just hope she can find her way from here.

its not a select all apply. I talked to the dean about it

Okay, So i talked to the dean. She said theres nothing she can do about it because its the school policy of getting 90% or above on the ati med math. Basically I got dismissed from the program. Now I feel so lost and hopeless. I don't even know what to do anymore. The dean said I have one time shot to write a appeal letter but I was never good at writing letters. I hate how WCU keep changing their policy before it was 3 fails now they switched it to 2 fails. I haven't talk to my parents about this because I don't know how they would react to this. my classmates been trying to make me feel better by trying to get me out of the house.

I am so very sorry to hear this. Keep your chin up.

This is a cautionary tale regarding some investor-owned schools. Although the admissions process is easier compared to more reputable nursing programs, some of these schools knowingly enroll marginal students who have a miniscule chance at successfully graduating and passing NCLEX.

It's just sad because getting dismissed over a med math exam. It should be a automatic drop for that class not a automatic fail. They don't teach us med math in school and if they did, its very different from what we learned.

I'm sorry to hear that :(

Failing the med math test will get you dismissed from most schools though.

I know :( but I been rewriting and redoing the questions before clicking next. I felt like 100% when i finish the exam but the sad thing is that they don't tell you what you miss so theres no way I could learn from my mistake. I don't even know what to do with my life anymore. I'm trying not to give up but I need some guidance where to begin.

Hello and I'm so sorry to hear that =( I was thinking of attending WCU but i don't like how they just changed their policy. It should stay the same for students who were admitted to the program! =( you should actually email or write a letter to the president of the company as well as the school and explain. Don't give up hope. Being persistent may help you alot! You're also so close to finishing too. Well i ehard WCU is WASC so you can transfer so Maybe you can take your credits over to Mount st marys?

This baffles me because now i'm not sure if i even want to be bothered going to WCU

Do a search here for threads about that school. Short version: no, you don't want to go there.
