not giving 2 weeks notice???? would the board take any action for that? especially if the reason you want to leave is because you fear losing your license if you stay and sign off on nurses paperwork for visits done over 4 weeks ago but the notes were done yesterday?!?!?

Uggh! how DO i get myself into these situations?????:uhoh21:

YEP that's exactly what you should do, call the BON and see what THEY say. My fake MD supervisor gets really upset when I do that though. It's really creepy to work there.:uhoh21:

I still would like to know what you mean by fake MD and why on earth are you still working there??? In what type of facility are you working?

It's not just home health. If you work in a SNF, go to the floor, find you are the only nurse on 3-11 for 60 patients, you can leave without fear of the abandonment charge as long as you didn't accept the floor by doing the narcotic count and accepting the keys to the med cart. They can't force you to work out a two week or 3 week or whatever notice. We are NOT indentured servants.

Got my undivided attention on the "fake MD" too..........

????? huh????? 2 posts and they are both in secret code?

.....sorry but all crediblity is lost with a supervisor who is willing to fraudulently bill for visits or for supervisors willing to sweep negligence under the carpet....... i can't imagine why the OP would still be in this position....i would have high tailed it out of there....

still trying to figure out what the ____ the fake MD things means and what the ____it has to do with this thread :smiley_ab

I hope you can't get in trouble for not giving two weeks notice, because I'm working for a FAKE DOCTOR and I need a new job.

RN2B- I think Stunned RN was referencing the OP employer threat of reporting to the BON if 2 weeks notice was not given.

That I could not ethically or morally do. Once the shift was over, never go back, yes, but leave 60 SNF patients, no.

Hold on here... my posts were not "in code". The connection to the OP of threatening the license of a nurse is that my supervisor acts very unprofessionally, and she is NOT an MD. She is an MD in her country, but not here, and she has been trying to fire me ever since I found out. I found out that she wasn't an MD here due to her bullying, sometimes outrageous ways of dealing with patients.

It's like she has an attitude: "If I can't be a doctor, you can't be a nurse." And, yes, I am looking for a new job and am going to bail as soon as I have one. Please keep me in your prayers!

I'm a layperson...not a nurse, but I wonder if a nurse finds herself (or himself) in a situation where they feel their license is at risk and get the "patient abandonment" threat from the employer....can't you just beat them to the punch and call the BON yourself and explain that you are leaving such and such employer, that they made this threat, and you want them to know why you are leaving...that way the employer can't claim later that you just walked off the job and tossed your resignation letter in the trash.

It wasn't me that said your posts were "in code" but to be honest it was uncomfortable when you posted:

Add to that your user ID is Stunned RN. Your posts are short enough to shock and alarm and no explaination. Not that you owe anyone here an explaination but as a group we care about our members.

I will keep you in my prayers. Get out ASAP. Keep us in touch and let us know how you are. Surely this fake is not treating patients? Writting scripts?

They absolutely cannot charge the OP with patient abandonment and her employer knows that, they are unethically trying to force her to do the charting. I don't think the employer would be stupid enough to actually call the BON because they would be putting their own necks in the noose rather than the OP. The thing about the OP calling the BON and beating them to the punch is to show them they cannot get away with bullying and unprofessional conduct. Get out, walk away, don't look back but if so inclined call the BON and report the creeps. I think I would have to.

Powernurse: First of all you are right in saying you shouldn't sign off on visits you are not sure were done. I may be off in my practice but: If I knew the particular nurse well, was sure of her abilities, the patients for which these visits were done had no issues with this HH agency such as no nurse showing up or poor nursing care. I would be a bit cautious on signing off on any major medication changes especially if you see a problem resulted from this change or some type of confusion surrounding any of the care given. Don't hestitate to read the other notes surrounding the visit in question to establish if there were any problems that you weren't made aware of or don't feel comfortable with. Of course, this goes without saying, make very certain that you were employed at the time the visits in question were made. If all these things are satisfied, I would have no problem signing off on these notes but I would state very clearly that from here on out you wont sign anything longer than what is acceptable as far as overdue paperwork is concerned, unless an unforseeable event occured (it would be an unfair imposition on your time to have to repeatedly do these things, because as you can tell it takes much more time to research the chart in making certain no problems surrounded these visits). Nurses do have to protect themselves from fraudulent activity, but I am afraid sometimes we are so fearful that we sometimes fail to act reasonably concerning some issues. Check the rules with your board of nursing and also with medicare and state guidelines, if you find nothing on this issue as far as if any rules will be broken in signing these documents, then you may want to consider the advice I've given. It is always a good call to think before you act, so you did good!!

I'm still wondering about the FAKE MD comment. ???? Stunned RN did you call the medical board? Is this person acting as if they were a doctor or a nurse?

Unfortunately in most places you can be fired for any reason or for no reason. Unless you are unionized that is. Firing does not equal losing your license. Please explain more.
