Can you take the TEAS before you apply to nursing school?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi, I'm going to applying to nursing school this upcoming fall 2011 for the 2012 cohort. I'm spending time studying the TEAS V manual to refresh my memory, but I was wondering if I can take the TEAS Test BEFORE I apply to nursing school? Or do I have to apply to nursing school and then sign up to take the TEAS test?

Thanks!

yes, at least my college allows it.

What college did you apply or are going to? Because I'm applying to CSULA

At my school, you take the TEAS after A&P I and II but before applying to the nursing program. Your score on the TEAS is used in part to determine if you're accepted or not.

I go to a community college in North Carolina, all you have to do is call and ask the counselling center if they allow it because I am sure every school is different.

Great, thanks!

Hey there!

I too am applying to CSULA for fall 2012!

Whats your stats so far?

CSULA needs the TEAS score before Dec 30th of this year (I just called them about it the other day). You can take it somewhere else OR you can sign up for it when CSULA offers it for this years cohort.

If you need any more information about this school, its program, and anything else, go to the search function and type in Cal State LA fall 2011. Look through the look thread and you will find pretty much all you need to know!

I have researched it through and through so if you have any questions you can PM me or you can post a question on my vistor messages!

Good Luck

Ps. Do you attend CSULA? I am going to make a fall 2012 thread this coming Oct, which is when I am applying to the school and the program

Hey BeachBedHead,

Yes, I am a full time CSULA student and am too applying this Fall 2011 for the 2012 cohort.

As for my stats:

Right now I have a 4.0 Pre-req GPA and a 4.0 Overall GPA. Plus volunteer and overseas medical mission experience. Hoping that i'll be able to score in the 90's for my TEAS test!! I hope everything works out, this is really nerve wrecking.

and wow, really? December 30th? Do you know if we can take it ahead of time -- before we turn in our application? and i was planning on taking it at rio hondo cc but i'm not sure how to sign up. I heard CSULA is offering the TEAS V version right?

Thanks,

Oh wow your stats are awesome!

You will definitely get in!

Remember to try and get employement verification and to see if whatever you did medically will count as experience.

YYes they are offering versionV all schools are

Thanks!! I really hope I do, but again there's always the TEAS test, so I am keeping my fingers crossed!

And if I may ask, what are your stats?

Oh okay, yea I called CSULA too and they said they're offering Version 5.

Do you know how to register for the TEAS test at Rio Hondo? I want to get the test done with before class starts this september...but I'm not sure where to register or what the info is @ Rio.

Aw my stats aent even close to how good yours are.

Pre req is between 3.6-3.8 because I have final summer term grades pending

my over all is 3.3 with 2.8 at another university :(

Average overall is about 3.1, thanks to my previous engineering major

Sucks that that if your like me and didn't know what you wanted to do while in college so you did enough to pass the stupid GEs

I'm hoping to get CNA job this month for extra points. The TEAS I am studying for this month and taking it at Rio cHondo, hoping to get a 90% or above to salvage my dumb overall GPA .

Look at CSULA fall 2011 thread, there's link there somewhere lol
