Have you ever been asked, "Can I put my hands in your hair?"
At work, the other day, I was asked just that.
A CNA said, "Your hair is so gray and shiny and looks so soft. Can I just put my hands in your hair?"
I said, "No, you cannot put your hands in my hair. I do not know if your hands are clean or where your hands have been!"
She got offended and said, "Well, I don't know if your hair is clean!"
I said, "That's beside the point."
WTH is up with that??
I have had people come up and just start touching my hair, and I wish they would NOT do that!
Anyone else ever been asked that or just have someone come up and start running their hands thru your hair?
How do YOU handle it?
I can't stand it. It makes me sick to think where their hands may have been.
Boundaries...some people need 'em.
No--a LOT of people need boundaries---what a wierd thing to ask someone--good grief!!!! But at least she asked before she touched! I have a friend who will just reach out, flip mine up and toss it around(no it's not a wig!--haha) and say"oh it's getting so long!" I've learned to step back quickly!
When I was 5, and just starting school, I had the kind of white blond hair that only children seem to have without a box. I came home crying every day because people kept playing with my hair. I have stopped crying, but it still annoys me for people to play with my hair (strangers, that is). It is a personal space issue. On the other hand, all 3 of my children loved to twine my hair around their fingers when they were trying to go to sleep. My 3 y/o dd still goes to sleep this way, and my 12 y/o ds still plays with my hair when he can pull it off without any one else seeing, lol. Some times it gets annoying, but mostly it is just sweet.
My two youngest kids have auburn hair . . . people are always commenting on it or touching it.
My daughter started dying her hair a few years ago to get away from the attention . . however, she colors it bleached blonde or dark brown with white streaks . . all attention-grabbers too. Weird. And I miss her auburn hair.

That's horrid!! Horrid!!
A male CG at my work came up and tried to kiss me on the cheek, not only do I not like being kissed by anyone without permission, being kissed by unrelated men without being asked really grates my cheese!
Not only that, I was trying to get two bowls of boiling hot porridge out of a microwave at the time!! His excuse "Well, I wanted to give you a new year's day kiss".
ITs the TENTH OF JAN!!!
People need to learn to keep their d@mn hands to themselves!
In future, you should just reply "Well, I dunno, those pesky lice are back..."
Ugh... I hate this kind of behaviour! I used to work with a lady who just loved to have her hair played with, and assumed other people did to. She reached out to play with mine (I can't stand to have my hair OR feet touched). I jumped back fast enough and told her if she ever tried to touch my hair again, I'd lay her out on the floor and then knock her into next week.
I can never understand why people feel they have to do this kind of stuff....
I had my hair touched a lot when I was a kid, too. I don't like having my hair touched. Part of that is that I am very "tender-headed" (old term I guess). Even having my hair shampooed can hurt. My current hairdresser has a light touch and I don't have a problem with her at all, but I don't want the general public's hands in my hair!
It would never occur to me to touch someone else's. If I have to in the course of an exam I will but I can admire pretty hair just by looking!
ugh, That IS rude. I often wear my long hair in a ponytail and I've had several coworkers (spanning different workplaces) that think it appropriate to tug my ponytail as a form of jest/eendearment or something >_> Not sure WHY they do this <_ who pulls someone hair and thinks it ok src="%7B___base_url___%7D/uploads/emoticons/greedy.png.0a76741d6d7473d6cef5277f82720a64.png" alt=":uhoh3:">

I get that one too. The other week I had one of the docs come up behind me, I turn around and he says "I was going to scare ya" and he pulls on my ponytail.
I wish I had nice hair though. I always have to wear it up because it just so crappy

touching someone like that conveys a sense of control/ownership imo >_>
I am ROTFLMAO because being in child psych-no on asks to touch my hair, they just pull on what I haven't already pulled out! I can see an older patient maybe asking this. For some reasoon, once someone reaches the Gero age inhibition leaves. I like the husband comeback-or "I don't know where your hands have been and you don't know where my head has been". Sure wish I had good hair! Sure wish people complimented my gray hair. Some people just don't have a clue about personal boundaries and respecting others.
