where can I get nursing scrubs in Manhattan?

Published

Does anyone know where I can get nursing scrubs in Manhattan? I'm looking for a place that has a pretty wide selection (I need a small or extra small tops and bottoms).

I've tried most of the Moddell's in the city but they didn't have much selections - as to size, color, or style.

Thanks!

i know of a store in queens definitely..if you would like that you can let me know. but i think there is a store in the 34th street area i believe between 5 and 6th ave. on 33rd or 32nd street.

You can always order them over the internet

from your favorite maker i.e. Cherokee, Landau etc...

It's easy and they get delivered to your door. :yeah:

The uniform store Minnielynn was talking about is B&R Uniforms and they moved. It's now on 2nd Ave between 24th and 25th st. I think they're the only scrub shop in the city, if you can believe it. New York city and ONE scrub shop!

Well, if the city is only Manhattan, yeah.

You can buy them at the Staten Island Mall, which is a real PITA from Manhattan.

Online, I like www.marcusuniform.com. A decent selection, not the most fashionable, but they carry Cherokee for really cheap.

There is a factory outlet on 247 west 37 street 3 floor. They are super nice and have a great selection and will make sewing adjustments. They have cherokee and American Made scrubs.

They go by the name Scrub Ink. It's off 7th Avenue near the train station.

I remember that store, it's across from School of Visual Arts, but IIRC it is no longer at that location.

Remember going there years ago with a friend and her bf when she was graduating from Saint Vinny's in The Village for her cap and a white uniform dress. Think the store was the "go to" store in the area for many schools of nursing for their official uniforms and caps.

As with pretty much elsewhere at one time you would find at least one if not more nursing uniform/gear supply store within the area of any hospital. There one could purchase not only uniforms but caps, white stockings/pantyhose/support hose, scopes, pens, pins, scissors, and anything else a nurse or someone in the healthcare profession required for duty.

The move away from caps, then whites along with the more casual dress of most nursing/healthcare staff pretty much killed the market for many uniform stores. When your revenue does not equal or exceed fixed costs, then you are running at a loss, which cannot continue long.

Here in NYC there used to be several uniform stores on the UES, and think they have all closed. One on East 86th moved to East 81st and subsequently went out of business. There was another on Lexington near Bloomingdales, but think they have gone OOB as well. Should note that many stores here also sold domestic workers uniforms (maids and so forth) as well.

If this can help...the NYU bookstore on Broadway has some plain scrubs for sale. Besides the selection for NYU different schools (Nursing, Medical and Dentistry) they also sell regular plain scrubs.
