anyway im doing volunteer job right now here in manila :heartbeat
wahine's suggestion is right, I also had my account in jobstreet.com when I was still job searching back in 2006. It was an indespensible tool to use if you're a professional job hunter (I was once years back.. hehe..) because it let's you access both local and international job openings. Another website is bestjobs.ph (if I remember it correctly) a got a call from several employers back then when I sent them my resume through e-mail, but fortunate for me I was already employed. They usually post private duty jobs at the said website. Enjoy browsing!
hey guys, why not try to work in a different setting? Remember when we were still students? We were once taught that there are other areas in nursing. Industrial, school, clinic, rural health etc. Maybe I can share some insights with you...
Industrial - In the jobstreet website, they usually post vacant positions on Corporate Clinic setting. Call centers, plants, factories.. Employees in these areas need to see a health care provider once in a while, right? Not to mention the above average paycheck, you still get to practice nursing knowledge on this. Call centers like VXI in Makati, Convergys, ACS, Telus... More often than not, you can see their posts online and you dont even have to get up your seat to schedule for an initial interview. Just make a good resume and hit apply.
Clinic - Ever heard of HMO's? That industry is quite persistent and I have to say they are really in that direction. Usually nurses do pre employment check up for patients, or perform some diagnostic procedures like Ultrasound, EKG etc. Intellicare, Maxicare, Caritas, these are just some f the many HMOs in our country.
School - This was in the news the other day. The headline read, the ratio was 100,000 pupils to a nurse. Try giving out your resume in your local public or private school. Maybe they're in need of one.
Rural - Aside form the much talked about NARS program, we can still try in the local municipality.
My advise... don't just settle for the "hiring" companies. Since we're pushing for it, pick up the newspaper, look for companies that you think, needs a nurse. Then use your landline phone and give them a call. You'll be surprised how much feed back you will get from them. I think this route is much better than doing paid volunteer job at a hospital with no SALARY and no employment thereafter.
Fifteen or so years of education... Don't you think it's about time to reap our fruits?
Maybe you can try to apply at the Philippines Air Force at Villamor Air Base in Pasay. I applied last week and fortunately got hired yesterday. I don't have a backer and I don't know anyone in the Air Force or in the AFP. You can try this Monday (June 1) and check if they still have openings for nurses. If you decided to go, just be there very early for they only entertain 20 persons per days (regardless of postion applied). When I went for my interview yesterday, I arrived at 6:45am and thought I was the first one to arrive. When I wrote my name on the list, I was number 11 already.
Goodluck fellow nurses! Have faith.:redbeathe
hello messageinthebox... you're lucky indeed coz you've been hired.. When I went there last two weeks ago,,the lady in charge in NSO told me that they are closed for hiring.. Do still accept applicants? do they consider to wear the corporate attire? I know that they only hire for their OJT Program for nurses.. I do have a friend who was hired also in Villamor Air Base but its is for the OJT only.. Correct me if I'm wrong.. Thanks in advance
Hi,
My assignment is in Clark Air Base. I was asked for my preference since Air Force Gen. Hospital in Villamor Air Base nurse position is already filled (according to one of the interviewers, they will be getting nurses from the existing OJT nurses). The position is not the OJT Program, but a Nurse I position Salary Grade 10.
I wore corporate attire (I think it helps). And held my hair in a ponytail.
I am not sure if they are still accepting applicants. But if you have nothing to do on Monday, it maybe worth your while to visit Villamor AB. If you decide to try, I strongly suggest to be there VERY early. The entertain applicants 20 persons/day only, first come first serve basis. I didn't went to NSO but to A-1 HQ instead (it's the building opposite the PAF library, near Gate 1). Maybe, the reason you were not entertained is because you went to the wrong office.

if you dont mind, can i ask the what is the basic starting salary they are offering for in-hospital postions e.g. hospital RN's? coz we got an offer last march from the same agency but it's for EMS positions and i think it's around 20-30+k/mo. how's the working condition there?
