I am just curious if that is possible or do you have to get a BSN first? I have seen folks go from RN-BSN-MSN etc but I just want to go in to a program that in the end will give me my MSN? Who has the scoop?:)

natsfanrn 121 Posts Aug 23, 2002 A lot of programs offer RN to MSN programs, where you "bridge" over the BSN. In most cases, you're technically taking the BSN courses in addition to the MSN courses, but some of the "BSN" credits are also applied toward your MSN...if that makes sense.
Mkue 1,827 Posts Aug 23, 2002 hi rhona1, yes, there are rn to msn programs on campus and online. i'm just starting to check into them. there is a medical college in my area that offers such a program. i think that bsn courses are included if i'm not mistaken, i have to do some more research on it. bye

Aug 23, 2002 There is a university here in AL that offers an RN-MSN track........ you are actually obtaining your BSN also...... you take classes for your BSN and MSN together, your credits apply toward both degrees and at the end of 2 1/2 yrs you have both.

Bonnie Blue 155 Posts Aug 23, 2002 Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN has an ADN bridge component that takes two semesters and is offered in a distance format. Then you start the MSN in the fall after the summer off. Depending on the program, you're done in a year.

tapper 29 Posts Aug 26, 2002 Don't get too excited about the program at Vanderbilt. First of all it is an extremely demanding program. Secondly I believe it'll cost ya about $30,000/year.
