2010 is fast approaching so I think there must be a new thread for 2010 new grad program. I hope the moderators will allow me to post this new thread. I'm currently working at Monrovia Memorial Hospital which is 40 miles away from our apt. We live here in Playa del Rey, near the LAX and unfortunately I don't drive yet. I'm looking for any hospitals that offers new grad program for next year. I'm not even sure if I'm still qualified for a new grad program because it will be my 8th month this Jan. working at Monrovia Memorial. Anyone could share any info..Thanks..
Hopeful new grad RN & BEBE1MEEThis anxiety is killing me! She told me they are only hiring 2-3 residents for PICU and 4 on Hem/Onc. I didnt ask about the others but aaaaaaah! No such luck with all these other programs so I'm hoping I get an interview for this one.
Ya, the competition for Peds is even more impossible than most areas of nursing. It would be amazing to receive even an interview. Good luck!
Has anyone applied for the new grad residency at CHOC? If so, for what department and have you heard anything yet? I know the NICU, OICU, and oncology departments are already full. I applied for PICU and haven't heard anything yet, except for the initial email that said qualified applicants will be contacted after May 9th for an interview, and my online application status still says it's under review, which I guess is a good thing! All this waiting is making me so nervous!!

WOW!!! I guess I am not hopeful anylonger...it's been really hard trying to get an interview...this is really helpful in easing my anxiety. I applied for PICU i think and Peds acute care. But you never know, God has a plan for all of us.

Hi there, it looks like the position for PICU and Medsurg (I applied for) are still open...that is probably why we are not getting any news yet...Atleast you have a date, I did not get any info. Good luck to us!!!

Wonder why you didn't receive an email also, maybe the med surg hiring process is different. When I called their RN Residency phone #, the lady I talked to said that each department does their own hiring, so maybe med-surg doesn't send out the emails? I hope we get some good news soon! I've been checking my email and phone constantly!

I had an interview with CHOC today for the NICU. Every department is doing their own thing, so its really dependent on which one you applied for. My application status still says "under review" as well, I'm not sure how often they update it.

Do you mind me asking how their interview process was? Did they ask the standard questions or did they also ask clinical situations, how long did it last, did you interview with more than one person, etc? Hope it went well for you! Good luck!!! Are you supposed to hear back from them soon?

Each unit is doing their own interviewing, so this might only apply to the NICU. They asked the typical interview questions and to support them with examples. I was there for around an hour which included a tour of the unit which was nice. I interviewed with two nurse managers and the nurse educator. I think it went well and I would love to be hired there, so I'm hopeful. I should know within 2 weeks.

I applied to Oncology and my application is still also under review. *sigh* And the waiting game continues.
