California's 2010 New Grad RN Program

Published

2010 is fast approaching so I think there must be a new thread for 2010 new grad program. I hope the moderators will allow me to post this new thread. I'm currently working at Monrovia Memorial Hospital which is 40 miles away from our apt. We live here in Playa del Rey, near the LAX and unfortunately I don't drive yet. I'm looking for any hospitals that offers new grad program for next year. I'm not even sure if I'm still qualified for a new grad program because it will be my 8th month this Jan. working at Monrovia Memorial. Anyone could share any info..Thanks..

Gem,

How did the interview go??? :nurse:

Hi Hopeful,

My interview went well. Surprisingly I wasn't as nervous as I thought I would be which was very good on my part. There are 15ppl being interviewed like you mentioned and there is only 10 spots open with 2 weeks for interviewing. Now the waiting game begins again but its a good wait and to me a pretty hopeful wait. Goodluck still on your interview.

I'm glad it went well for you! I'm sure it's nice that it's over now huh? :D I'm worried about my nerves too. That's good they told you 10 spots, I think that increases our chances alot.

Hi LindRdsNay-

"Each unit is doing their own interviewing, so this might only apply to the NICU. They asked the typical interview questions and to support them with examples. I was there for around an hour which included a tour of the unit which was nice. I interviewed with two nurse managers and the nurse educator. I think it went well and I would love to be hired there, so I'm hopeful. I should know within 2 weeks."

Do you know how many they are interviewing or hiring???? I am still waiting to hear :( Goodluck to you!!!!!! :)

Oh man you have no idea how relieved I was when they said well this concludes our interview. Oh and yes our chances are very good in my opinion.

From what i could tell, they started the interviews last week and will finish up this week. I'm not sure if they've called everyone yet to arrange times and what not..

thank you, good luck to you as well! I assume, you applied for the NICU as well?

WELL. St. Jude e-mailed me saying their August cohort is already filled. Yay.

I have no clue. I called them when I got the same email twice about my application status from Friday and today. I asked if all was filled and she said yes. I forgot to ask how many. From what the lady told, they hired internal people, not external. So, what I'm guessing is those people who are getting their rns who work there got their rn license and come in as new grads or connections or students close to the hospital. Pretty much it was a waste of time. At least the lady was nice info to tell me more information. :( But 1400...that's a lot!

Has anyone heard from UCSD or Loma Linda???
