When I saw that Torrence Memorial had closed their applications to their New Grad program starting in March 2011 I realized we needed a new grad 2011 thread! The 2010 thread was a great place to ask questions and get answers about upcoming new grad opportunities. So let's make this thread the same. :)
First off, When did you graduate?
2011 New Grad Opportunities in California. Anyone waiting on hearing back after applying?
Hoag Hospital's New Grad program
Anticipated Start Dates:
January 31, 2011
April 11, 2011
July 11, 2011
August 29, 2011

Dameron Hospital has a Versant Residency New Grad Program
But it says applications process TBA
Any old new grads out there? How long have you been looking for a job?
I have a list of hospitals that I want to work for. I bookmarked their residency pages and I check them religiously. Luckily, Scripps finally popped up and I filled out that application in milliseconds. I highly suggest bookmarking the residency pages because it is pretty efficient...at least for me. Good look with the search and keep positive! :)
Start date: 4/11 and 4/18 I think.

I was hoping that Palomar Pomerado was going to hire a lot of nurses including new grads because they have that "hospital of the future" opening sometime this year. Anyone have any information on this?BTW, has anyone applied to Tri-City? They never get back to anyone I know that has applied. No response. I wonder what their critieria is for getting a job there.
I talked to another new grad at the Scripps interviews and she said Palomar Pomerado was planning on hiring 30-50 newgrads this summer but I don't remember where she said she heard that from.
I've heard different things about Tri-City. They had a NewGrad position listed last November and did interviews in January. A friend of mine got an interview with an 8 person panel! Unfortunately she didn't get it. I did my preceptorship there and recently spoke with my preceptor and he said they have a program going on right now with only 4 new grads. However, I also heard from a friend who works in their L&D department that they accepted 8 people in their program but are only going to hire the 4 best of the 8. I've never heard of hospitals doing that, but who knows. It's all speculation of course, but this is what I've heard.
praying for us all!
I'm about to graduate in June 2011. I don't know how to get started with these job applications. Some say I should start applying now, but I don't know where to apply and I don't feel comfortable saying that, "Oh I haven't graduated yet..." I need help. I want to get a job now so I can pursue my BSN within a year.
Anyone get a call back from UCLA? I got an appointment with them Monday the 28th.
Hey Jojo from the Scripps thread...
I applied for UCLA, but haven't heard anything. I'm going to check my 'app status right now. I thought I actually had a chance since I had a preceptorship in an area they're offering (L&D/ maternal-newborn).
Did they call you and schedule an interview for 3/28? Is that the "appointment" you're talking about?

Sorry, I was mistaken. The call back I got was from Harbor UCLA and not the UCLA new grad program. Harbor UCLA deals with the LA County Hospitals.
Did anyone see the Seton Versant New Grad Program? It's in Austin Texas, but seems like a big quality health system. I'm thinking of applying for it and getting my license endorsed in Texas. Austin seems like a nice place to live.
Can I ask you when you started your application process with LA county? I applied with them too and my application status says referred to exam process......they told me it might take up to a year to hear back from them.....just curious, I would actually love to work at Harbor UCLA, I did most of my clinical rotations there.......
Thanks,
Daniela
