U.S.A. California

Published

When I saw that Torrence Memorial had closed their applications to their New Grad program starting in March 2011 I realized we needed a new grad 2011 thread! The 2010 thread was a great place to ask questions and get answers about upcoming new grad opportunities. So let's make this thread the same. :)

First off, When did you graduate?

Any old new grads out there? How long have you been looking for a job?

Specializes in Med-Surg.

I applied to three positions and one of them says referred to hiring department on 6/8. I hope I can at least get an interview. I had lost all hope getting into a new grad program.

Were you an internal candidate? If not, when did you graduate and which department gave you the interview? I also applied to three departments and was hoping with some of the experience I have I would at least get an interview...

Oh no I have not interviewed yet. I just was hoping to get an interview. On the PCU application, it says referred to hiring department.

Have you had experience in PCU already

Did you all see the Scripps allnurses thread? I'm sure you could get more info on there too! Check it out!

Thanks, I did see the Scripps thread, that one is on hold too. It seems 1000 applied for 40 positions and there were 43 internal applicants who got to apply first. They interviewed on Monday. That program starts Aug 15 and we're in a wait and see there too...:uhoh3:

Oh wow! I can't believe how tough it is to find a new grad position! AHHH! I didn't apply to UCSD or Scripps because I had a feeling they would only hire internally or those that live local...and I def don't live local. And I wasn't sure if I'd 100% want to move down there...but anyway, good luck to you!!

After 6 months of pursuing these jobs, I think there is a better way. Just get the experience for a yr somewhere else, bite the bullet and come back. BTW the pay will be better that way too (most likely). Better yet have a travel agency pay for relocation back to california!

Anyone hear from St Vincent medical center in LA?

I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding Northridge's new grad program. This must not be a popular hospital because I can't seem to find ANYTHING regarding their program on this website. Anyone know of anything, or at least know a friend who does? I have an interview with them on the 28th but I would like to hear from other people's experiences about their program. Thanks in advance!

I wonder if they filled all the burn positions at UCSD. My app still says open/received.

As far as I know if?? they have any positions left after the internals applied, they would start external interviews the week of the 20th. If it helps, I haven't seen anyone post on here that they got a job at UCSD yet...Mine still says received/open too.
