When I saw that Torrence Memorial had closed their applications to their New Grad program starting in March 2011 I realized we needed a new grad 2011 thread! The 2010 thread was a great place to ask questions and get answers about upcoming new grad opportunities. So let's make this thread the same. :)
First off, When did you graduate?
2011 New Grad Opportunities in California. Anyone waiting on hearing back after applying?

But it says applications process TBA
Any old new grads out there? How long have you been looking for a job?
Hey congratulations. Thats great news for you. Did you just graduate?do you know if they have already contacted their final choice for new hires?
Thanks! No, I graduated in December 2010 and have applied to TONS of jobs since then. I am pretty sure they have contacted everyone already since I know another person that got hired in Med/Surg, so both Med/Surg and Tele probably chose all their hires. Sorry if you are still waiting to hear something. Good luck, I'm sure you will find something soon! :)
The suspense is killing me! Has anyone heard from UCSD?? I know they were interviewing 30 internal applicants before moving forward with external applicants but that was weeks ago.
Hi lizardRN, i just saw your message and decided to check my UCSD job account. I can tell you my account went from "forward to hiring department" to now "under consideration" as of 6/13. And i can tell you that process took them about 1 week. I hope that helps! Wish you the best of help! FYI, this is for telemetry department.
TeleNurse, Yes, that definitely helps. My application still says "transferred to hiring dept." so if it doesn't change soon to "under consideration", I will consider myself out of the running. My app is also for tele. Good luck to you!!!! Would you mind posting if you do get an interview? Thx :)
Don't lose hope regarding UCSD! Even tho my application is under consideration, I have already accepted a job somewhere else. However, don't lose sleep over UCSD either. When I applied to them the posting said there was only 2 positions available. I don't know if they added more since then. FYI, I don't know where everyone is from but UCI-Medical Center just posted up a Clinical Nurse 1 position on their website the other day.
Thanks!! I am SO excited and happy! I've applied to over 40 jobs and had 3 interviews total. I'm definitely taking the St. Vincent job since my only other prospect was with Planned Parenthood in Pasadena (still waiting to hear back after my interview 4 weeks ago), and I'd rather work at a hospital than a clinic. I also just started doing an internship (unpaid) at Citrus Valley Health Partners in West Covina 1 day a week, but it could be a while before I actually got interviewed or hired there. Sooo I'm definitely taking this job! And the pay is great, more than I expected. :)Have you heard back from anywhere yet??
YAY! I'm really happy for your new job! :) I didn't even know St. Vincent's had a new grad program!! I just graduated and am focusing on passing my NCLEX before I start job hunting. May I ask how much St Vincent starts their new grads?
Any other tips/advice on where to apply when the next cohort comes around?
Thanks!!! And congrats again!! :)
