California's 2011 New Grad Program

Published

When I saw that Torrence Memorial had closed their applications to their New Grad program starting in March 2011 I realized we needed a new grad 2011 thread! The 2010 thread was a great place to ask questions and get answers about upcoming new grad opportunities. So let's make this thread the same. :)

First off, When did you graduate?

Any old new grads out there? How long have you been looking for a job?

For anyone still holding out for Scripps, I called and they are definitely done notifying potential candidates. She said they were only hiring in one department and she is not sure when the next new grad program will be. They had 2800 apply. I also checked with UCSD, pretty much the same story. Most of the positions went to the internal candidates. As for Sharp, the next possibility isn't until the Dec/Jan/Feb program and Palomar doesn't have any current plans to offer a new grad program. It seems they have a deal with CSUSM to guarantee this year's cohort new grad positions. Guess I graduated from there one year too early.

Hope the day went well for those interviewing...good luck.

Thanks for the information. :)

Sharp Grossmont is def. hiring for psy unit right now. The nurse manager just called me even though I told HR i wasn't interested last Friday. I think HR forwarded her the wrong application or something, but the manager called me. And i remember asking HR when the position started, she said this particular one starts as soon as possible.

Anyone else knows where to apply for new grad? I've been so depressed lately.. Applied to tons of hospitals and facilities but still no luck.:cry:

If you don't mind relocating you might want to keep checking at Loma Linda Univ. Medical Center in Riverside. They have two websites but don't apply to the one in Murrietta, they are too new and don't have a new grad program yet. Loma Linda has a very relaxed interview process, they are more interested in personality matches than the 4.0 GPA student. I know they constantly have openings since many people don't want to live up there but it is a great hospital.

You could also keep checking Inland Medical just north of Temecula. They recently restructured their whole hospital and keep adding positions.

Be sure to check Indeed.com frequently since they list new positiions as they come up. On the sight search for RN new grad positions in the area you want. I usually put San Diego or Southern California.

Good luck and keep trying.

Just to clarify my last note...If you apply to Loma Linda University Medical Center the position will not say "New Grad" You can apply to any position that is for a Clinical Nurse B. I had to call there to get that clarification. I just went on the website and there are lots of positions currently for clinical nurse B. From what I have heard it is harder to get into the Children's Hospital than the other positions in the main hospital.

Dear Happy Angel J,

I'm on the same boat. Don't know that I'm doing wrong here.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion! I would really want to relocate but it's really hard for me to be alone right now... :( But I've thought about that.. yes I always check Indeed.com.. I just hope someone would response to any of my applications...

Dear Happy Angel J,

I know right?! this is getting soooo depressing!!! but update me guys with whatever.. if you ever find a job somewhere.. i'm still looking for new grad program.. i'm starting to think that some are already ongoing with the interviews for the summer new grad.. uggkkk! but God has a way for all of us... I'm sure.

Did anyone who got interviewed interview for any positions in medsurg/oncology/or IMU? Originally when I applied they had some of these positions listed in the new grad program. It didn't look like they had interviewed anyone for them and now I noticed these positions are again listed on the UCSD website but not as new grad positions. Could it be they didn't have enough money to offer that many new grad positions so went with the cardio/ telemetry/ etc.

I just think it is interesting.

Bakersfield new grad program accepts new grad -- graduate in June of 2011 or graduated no later than December 2010.. does it expire?

too bad for me since i graduated 2009, passed nclex last May and no nursing work experience at all. so now i don't know if i am still considered as new grad...

i applied in new grad/ OR nurse training program at UC Davis and never heard from them ... the application status changed yesterday from routed to interview

Goodluck to all of us!

I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding Northridge's new grad program. This must not be a popular hospital because I can't seem to find ANYTHING regarding their program on this website. Anyone know of anything, or at least know a friend who does? I have an interview with them on the 28th but I would like to hear from other people's experiences about their program. Thanks in advance!

How was your interview? I have mine at the end of this week and I would appreciate any tips and help from you. Was it behavioral or clinical scenarios q-s? Thank you.
