California's 2011 New Grad Program

Published

When I saw that Torrence Memorial had closed their applications to their New Grad program starting in March 2011 I realized we needed a new grad 2011 thread! The 2010 thread was a great place to ask questions and get answers about upcoming new grad opportunities. So let's make this thread the same. :)

First off, When did you graduate?

:nurse:

Any old new grads out there? How long have you been looking for a job?

Yeah, it sucks but we need to move on to another hospital or so. There will come a time that we will be getting good emails/calls. Were like waiting for a good pop up lol.

I got the same email. :( You are not alone.

and how are we suppose to get any experience if they don't hire us? hahaha

Hey everyone. We spoke to the nurse recruiter at UCSD and she said the application will now be posted tomorrow, Tuesday May 3

Specializes in Oncology, Medical/Surgical.

Got the same email too. Keep going! I always think it is their loss for not hiring you :)

and oh, I applied on USC as well. And also had a hard time thinking what will I put on teaching philosophy as well. I chose perioperative unit and Neuro for my 2nd choice.

Funny how they ask us to choose preferences when chances are we're getting shut out completely...I kinda picked whatever wherever for that section.

I got an email from Saint Jude New Grad program.... and guess what

"Thank you for your interest in employment opportunities with St. Jude Medical Center/St. Jude Heritage Healthcare.

At this time we have elected to pursue other candidates whose backgrounds more closely meet our current need for the position of New Grad Registered Nurse August 2011 Program."

:sniff: That's ok... The right job will come. Patience.

Same email I received today :(

Specializes in Cardiac.

I also got that email from St. Jude! Oh well =/

So I talked to someone in HR at USC today and she told me that we could mail, email, or fax our letters of recommendation. I mailed them. She also said she had no idea why there was a section called "Teaching Philosophy". So I am all done applying for USC...now the waiting begins.

Good luck everyone!

Awesome!!! Thanks for your help!!

I am totally confused why UCSD still hasn't posted it. We will call by twelve if necessary, ha!

However, I think I read earlier that those who applied to USC had to submit an additional supplemental form after the application. However, the last thing I did was upload all my documents, and then it said I was finished. Did you guys get the app for a supplemental form? Thanks!
