California's 2011 New Grad Program

Published

When I saw that Torrence Memorial had closed their applications to their New Grad program starting in March 2011 I realized we needed a new grad 2011 thread! The 2010 thread was a great place to ask questions and get answers about upcoming new grad opportunities. So let's make this thread the same. :)

First off, When did you graduate?

Any old new grads out there? How long have you been looking for a job?

Specializes in Cardiac.

I did not get the supplemental form to fill out either.

I am totally confused why UCSD still hasn't posted it. We will call by twelve if necessary, ha!

However, I think I read earlier that those who applied to USC had to submit an additional supplemental form after the application. However, the last thing I did was upload all my documents, and then it said I was finished. Did you guys get the app for a supplemental form? Thanks!

I think the supplemental form was the form where you pick which two units you wanted to work on. UCSD is up =)

thanks for the UCSD msg, TeleNurse! I applied yesterday. fingers crossed!

this morning just found out that a position I interviewed for was cancelled b/c of budget cuts! that's the second time that's happened to me.

For those of you living in norcal/ sacramento area there is a RN resident position with bloodsource. Im really not familiar with the company or area ( I am from So. Cal). I am not applying to this one cause its too far, but good luck to those who are! Here is the link..I hope it works. if not google them. =)

I am a bit confused about USC's personal statement request. Are we supposed to write about which units we want to work on in the statement?

Even though I have had a combination of 14 years of experience as a LVN and nurse's aide it has not helped me land a RN job. I will keep my fingers crossed for this one.

The directions for what to include in the personal statement are listed under the job description when you go to apply online.

It says indicate which two units you want to work on. We already indicate which two units we prefer to work on in their questionnaire. I wasnt sure if that was part of personal statement or just asking us to fill out the questionnaire.

Yeah I thought it was kind of repetitive that they'd want us to say our 2 units again. I just included it again towards the end of my personal statement. What units did you choose? I chose cardiac telemetry and Stepdown. Good luck!

I chose outpatient surgery and OR. Good luck to you too!

Specializes in Telemetry.

I just wanted to throw in some positive thoughts: I pray daily that all of us will find a job soon!!! I have not had much luck landing a job yet. good luck everyone

Good luck to all those applying to UCSD, I join the pack. Also applied the first day and immediately got the email back with the questionnaire. Now it is sit and wait. They are not offering near as many positions as last year and most of the positions seem to be at Hillcrest, but we'll see. Hopefully they are faster than UCLA where the process took over 4 months to get you through.
