Timeline for endorsing RN license to CA

U.S.A. California

Published

I am interested to hear anyones experience in endorsing their license into CA. I used the online endorsement as well as the livescan fingerprinting. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

It is so dumb. I am in Hawaii and for Oregon I just had to do the live scan here. It is crazy that you can't go to the live scan in your own state.

For those of you who recently applied...

I sent my Application in the end of October. They received it October 31st, and on Breeze it was "started" November 14th. I did paper prints, mailed everything regular mail. As of today, I have my permanent license according to breeze. I paid the extra $50 dollars for the temporary license, but that application is still pending, so I basically donated money to them.

Hi acampbell22.

I endorsed from OK to CA earlier this year, so here are my two cents on (y)our situation.

1) I did LiveScan while in CA for a trip and feel it was absolutely worth it. They were able to tell right then and there if the fingerprints were clear enough to pass. Otherwise, you'd have to wait to get the paper cards in the mail and go get them done and mail them back. That is TOO MUCH snail mail and risk of them getting lost IMHO. Also, what if they're smudged and you have to repeat the process after waiting forever for the CA BRN to tell you they're not good prints?

2) I both had my OK nursing school directly mail the BRN an official transcript and dropped off a still sealed copy of my transcript with the official signature across the envelope flap to show it'd never been opened in person to the BRN office. They were able to stamp it as "opened at BRN" with a spot for the employee's signature and date. Since they already had the mailed version, they returned the "opened at BRN" copy to me. I would say it doesn't hurt to have a sealed copy handy if you're going to drop by the office anyway. Otherwise, I wouldn't make a special trip just to drop it off.

3) Again, I really feel like waiting on LiveScan was worth it.

4) You have to already have your application started in CA before contacting the OK BoN to verify your license. They aren't part of NurseSys and do their own thing where they email the CA BRN. They're very fast though and will send it in about two days, so if your application hasn't been received in CA and started yet, the OK license verification gets lots in the shuffle. Mine actually had to be re-sent by the OK BoN because it got to the CA BRN "too soon."

Feel free to PM me if you have anymore questions. I know some of this stuff is very state-specific.

So I'm starting the process to get my RN license in California. I currently have my license in Oklahoma. I've seen so many posts about how long it takes, and would like to move to California the last week of January. I don't want to be stuck in California waiting on my RN license though.

Main questions are

1. Would it be worth it to wait until the first week of December and do the live scan while I'm in California, or do the hard copies within this next week and have them mailed?

2. I realize that the transcripts have to be "official and sealed". Does this mean if I chose to submit my application in person the first week of December that they will accept them if they are sealed, or do they need to be mailed from the college I went to?

3. Is it truly worth delivering everything in person approximately a month from now, or should I just mail everything within the next week?

4. Is there one piece of the application process that needs to be mailed before the others are sent?

Thank you guys so much for the help!

HI petchie.

I'm from NYC planning to move to California this coming June 2017. Do they need to my verification of license from PRC (Phil. License)?

Your reply will greatly appreciated. Thanks

After 7 months and finally the license number showed up on breeze. Temporary license still pending, waste of $50 there.

Hi Petchie,

I'm from NYC planning to move to California by June this year. Do I need to get a verification of license from PRC( phil. license)????

Hi

I almost feel crazy reading through 76 pages... anyways here's my timeline:

- Applied for endorsement from Arizona Nov 7

- Application received as per BreEze Nov 28 (status stating education information missing)

- Dec 10 contacted my school and apparently they had not sent in my transcripts and course information. They will contact me once they send the paper work to BORN

- Dec 22 school finally sent required paper work

- Dec 27 education information missing deficiency removed. Application status open/pending

So I graduated from a Canadian BSN program in 2012. I held a license in BC from 2012-2015. Applied for Arizona licensure February 2015, wrote the NCLEX in March 2015 (since I wrote the CRNE in 2012 it did not transfer over) and received my license in April 2015. I have been working in Arizona since then.

My question is am I considered an international applicant since my schooling was all done in Canada OR am I considered a US applicant since I'm endorsing from Arizona?

According to the processing times they *should* be processing my application if I am considered an international applicant but not quite if I am a US applicant. I do not want to bother calling if they haven't even started processing my application yet.

Thanks for any insight! I'm hoping to have a license by February so I can start applying for jobs... but after reading this forum I am terrified of wait times.

can someone please tell me how to check my status, i've been in this process since september and i don't understand how you guys are checking

Hi Petchie

I am a Canadian as well trying to transfer my license to California, as I was reading your post I did notice you said you used your SIN number for application for endorsement. Did California Board of Nursing Accepted the Canadian Social Insurance Number.

Thanks
