Please let me know the updates of your application in Glendale Adventist hospital. May I know how long it will take for them to verify our background and pertinent informations? I filled in my applicaton few weeks ago. Applying for a job is so draining. ...only few hospitals offer new grad program right now?

i'm having thoughts that maybe informing the BON can help. i know its about the recession and cutting off the budget but for new grads? i mean, there should be a place to start applying what you have learned from school after you graduate. even if it means no pay for quite sometime but thing is, slots for our class is so hard to get. im not a new grad but my year of exeprience was from the philippines and still its hard to get a job.

keep applying, the good side is atleast us, we've done all the exams and all we have to do is get an employer who'll hire us, unlike others who still strives to pass the nclex.

hi im a filipina too, no experience from the Phils watsoever.. if its hard for u, how much more for me?. it seems like nursing is heading down south. yeah ill still apply if soemthing comes up..
i think we really need some connection from within the hospital system just so we can land a job.. well, God bless us.. i know He has plans..
    keep on praying..

    =)

Oh, sorry to hear that, yes I think the only thing we have to do right now is hang on. It will come in His time.
I did call them many times but nobody's picking up the phone. Thanks for the reply. I wonder if anybody out here have been through with this and knew how long it takes to check our backgrounds? Waiting is forever:typing:typing all day long.

Hve you tried applying in nursing homes/convalescent/rehab centers? God bless

I started this site months ago and feel excited for all the responses it has received.
I still haven't landed a job BUT let me tell you what I have done.

    - PALS and ACLS classes
-Will be volunteering at my local hospital
-Landed a part-time gig from sept-dec giving vaccinations
-Shadowing a nurse in a SNF

I will plan to look for a SNF job in September. I'm done for now with looking at
new grad positions. It's been 9 months and I'm so drained and just need experience.
I had a interview with UKiah Medical Center. Great hospital, wanted the job but didn't get chosen for the peer interview. I think I need major help with interviewing even though I though I did all right.

Keep the faith and keep it coming

That is a start. You should be proud of yourself for getting the interview at least. Despite not getting the job, you now have an idea of how interviews go and you are now more experienced.

You should look into getting some type of coaching for interviews. There are services out there for this type of thing. An excellent resume can only get you so far: an interview. It won't land you the job. Invest time into improving your interviewing skills. In the real world, the most qualified person does not get the job, the one who interviews best will get it despite being less qualified.

2 more New Grad opportunities available

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, part time positions, starts Aug

Fountain Valley Hospital, start date unknown. I, or if someone gets to it before me, will call the nurse recruiter for clarification on start date, as it says they aren't accepting for Jan 2010.

Anybody applying to/accepted into/in the process of doing UCLA's New Grad Program?

when do they start accepting applicants for their next program? (which i think starts in february)
any pointers or tips when applying?
the interview process? (phone? in person?)
    living arrangements?
salary as a new grad in their residency program?

    thanks in advance
