we are seeing more and more posts regarding california and getting results.
for pn it takes on average 4 weeks to get your results, until you get your results via snail mail and pay for your license you will not see your name on the website and will not have a license issued. sometimes it may take longer to get your results if there has been a large influx of applications and test takers. if you find you have to contact them because you haven't heard anything they will usually indicate on what date they are processing.
for rn you will only have a license issued if you have a ssn and have given it to the brn. if you have no ssn then you will not see your name on the brn website. if you inform them you have a ssn after your application is sent in or after you have taken the nclex then give them a few days to up date their files on you. it takes approx 3-10 days to get your results online (as long as you meet requirements and have a completed file) although can take longer. do not ring them until at least 2 weeks has gone passed as the more people ring means a delay on updating yours/others file. majority of times you do not hear anything is due to a incomplete file as california allows you to sit nclex in most cases with a incomplete file, they will not release your results until it is complete. we have had members contact brn to find that there is a problems with their fingerprints or their transcripts haven't arrived so can easily be something simple enough to sort out.
any questions regarding california please post here
if you are a foreign trained nurse and applied to california and have no ssn then you will not see your name on the website and if you do not provide a ssn within the 3 years then your file is destroyed which does include your nclex results. if you are caught up in retrogression and your 3 years are nearly up then we suggest you apply to another state for licensure by exam and arrange with ca to forward your nclex results. you will still have to meet the bon requirements for foreign trained nurse so do not leave this to the last minute.
Actually most of the states require SSN for the release of official NCLEX result, knowing that whether he/she is out side US graduate or not, i think he has to check the requirements needed to fulfill the process needed. but,if any one just started the process and later on his ways finds trouble, that will not be a solution. As to me i would have been recommended them to explore the things needed before they get started to it.

Sorry, but this is most definitely not true. Every state will release the results, just not all of them will release a license. Major difference between the two. The exam is actually only part of the licensing requirement and is not the only part to it. It is actually the final step in the licensing process.
There is no reason not to let someone know if they passed the exam or not.
Someone can be a US grad and not possess a SSN#, and one can also go to school out of the US and be a US citizen.
Please let me know of the state that will not give out the results if one does not have a SSN#. Have never heard of this with any state in the US that does this.
With recession and retrogression it is better at the moment to select a state that will not destroy your file if you do not provide a SSN within a certain period of time. Although NCLEX is in most cases for life if your file is destroyed then also is your NCLEX results
I never would have thought that one's NCLEX results would be destroyed if one's state file is destroyed.

California will destroy file if they do not receive a SSN within 3 years and unfortunately with retrogression a lot of foreign nurses are waiting over 4 years for a visa. Because their file is destroyed so is their results as there is no other place to store them. This is from members we have seen who have had major problems and they all do receive a letter telling them that their file is destroyed after 3 years if they do not provide a SSN
Yes, one can go the the office in Sacramento for their license. My supervisor and I both did that one year. I paid for my renewal and was given an embossed receipt that I was told took the place of my regular license until it came in the mail. Didn't take long to get the real license. People are very helpful at the Board when you go in person.
We did this for our renewal licenses. Not sure how it would work for the initial license.

The exam is a national exam, we no longer have state boards and have not had them in years.
You will have to apply for licensure to Texas and they will have to do an evaluaton on your credentials, if you meet their requirements, then they will issue a license to you.
The exam does not need to be repeated.
