California and licensure for both PN and RN

we are seeing more and more posts regarding california and getting results.

for pn it takes on average 4 weeks to get your results, until you get your results via snail mail and pay for your license you will not see your name on the website and will not have a license issued. sometimes it may take longer to get your results if there has been a large influx of applications and test takers. if you find you have to contact them because you haven't heard anything they will usually indicate on what date they are processing.

for rn you will only have a license issued if you have a ssn and have given it to the brn. if you have no ssn then you will not see your name on the brn website. if you inform them you have a ssn after your application is sent in or after you have taken the nclex then give them a few days to up date their files on you. it takes approx 3-10 days to get your results online (as long as you meet requirements and have a completed file) although can take longer. do not ring them until at least 2 weeks has gone passed as the more people ring means a delay on updating yours/others file. majority of times you do not hear anything is due to a incomplete file as california allows you to sit nclex in most cases with a incomplete file, they will not release your results until it is complete. we have had members contact brn to find that there is a problems with their fingerprints or their transcripts haven't arrived so can easily be something simple enough to sort out.

if you are a foreign trained nurse and applied to california and have no ssn then you will not see your name on the website and if you do not provide a ssn within the 3 years then your file is destroyed which does include your nclex results. if you are caught up in retrogression and your 3 years are nearly up then we suggest you apply to another state for licensure by exam and arrange with ca to forward your nclex results. you will still have to meet the bon requirements for foreign trained nurse so do not leave this to the last minute.

They will send through snail mail as far as I am aware

Waiting for NCLEX results in CA. Checking BRN website, and there is no response yet. I read in previous posts that one hold up may be that your file with the BRN may be incomplete, so If you hear nothing back in 14 days you should call the BRN. Well, in my experience this is easier said than done. I have also tried Emailing with no success. I have called every phone number posted on the BRN website and tried every possible extension, but I can never seem to get a human voice. I get a lot of recordings, no of which seem helpful to me. Has anyone recently successfully called the BRN and spoke with a real actual person? This thread has been extremely helpful, Extra special thank yous to Suzanne4 and Silver Dragon, Life savers!:redbeathe:heartbeat:redbeathe Hoping for the best and preparing for the worst!

Does anyone know how long it takes from the date of completion of a file to when you receive word? There was a delay in my transcripts and it wasn't received until a week after I took the NCLEX. Is there any estimation as to how long it takes to process?

I have a question for you...I took my exam 6-10-10. Everyone that took the exam the same day as me saw their name on the BRN website after a week in a half. Even my friend who took her exam a week after me saw her name on the board. After two weeks of waiting I called the board and they said that my file was complete. Everyone in my class has received their liscense or failure letter in the mail already. Some as early as last friday. What could the hold up be for me? I have received anything yet and my name is not on the BRN website. have you ever heard of this happening before? I have done the PVT and keep getting the good pop up but still nothing from the boards. Why would mine be taking so much longer then everyone elses? Thanks for any help

Just a quick question, is the retake fee for California Nclex increased? I received a mail informing me to pay $75, but when I tried to download the form, it says $150 retake fee.

Hi. I had my NCLEX application for CA when I was still in the Philippines without an SSN last 2008.

In April 2010 I got married here in US and got a my SSN after 2 months, along with that my mother called me back home that my Eligibility Letter has arrived and applied thru Pearson Vue for my ATT. Any how, I took my exam last week March 8, 2011. How many days would it take for me to know that I passed? Does my single name which was on my application affect the result time because at that time I don't have a SSN? or Not?

Please help me.:nurse:

Have you informed the BRN that you have a SSN and that you are married? If not then you will not see results online and have to wait for a letter
