Anyone applying for Calhoun's nursing program this fall? I am and I am really anxious and excited!!!
Yeah, it is. I went through the book list for 102, 103, and 104 on the CC bookstore site and calculated what they would be from Amazon ('cause Amazon's price is much cheaper for most of them than either bookstore), and came up with $527.31. That's for the Fundamentals book and SG, the Pharmacology book, Taber's, Davis's drug guide, Davis's lab tests guide, and Calculate with Confidence all new, current editions.
Ok well I started medicals yesterday. Took Tetorifice shot, 1st TB test, 1st Hep B vaccination and had titers done for MMR and varicella. I go back tomorrow to read 1st TB results and in a month for 2nd Hep B and go back in 2 weeks for 2nd TB test. I already had the Flu shot earlier this year.
We should start with everyone else on the 18th. The closer it gets to August, the more nervous I am! I'm trying to do as much as I can before orientation so I'm not rushing at the last minute and it's not all out of pocket at once. Nursing school is going to be tough but I feel like it's worth the time and $$. :)
I agree. I have gotten all my school supplies and uniforms. The only thing I have yet to buy is books and stethoscope. Parkway Scrubs has a simulator where you can go test different models. I'm going to check them out tomorrow.
I am verrrrrry nervous, anxious and excited. I have heard so many horror stories about the pressures and stresses and how hard nursing school really is. I read one website that said 2/3 of the people you start out with will not finish, those are horrible statistics.
I'm in nursing school. I put in for Calhoun and UAH, but ultimately chose UAH. I want all to know that it is definitely stressful, but you have to keep things in perspective. You have to remember why you want this, to not give up, and that each day that you get through is one day closer to graduating. You can do it! I am apt to think that after you complete the first semester you are rather conditioned somewhat to the stress; not to say that you won't still be stressed in other semesters. The one thing that I can tell all of you is try to be as organized as you can, take good notes, and form study groups comprised of reliable people. You are going to need each other to make it through. Good luck and hold your head up high...YOU'RE GOING TO NURSING SCHOOL!

I'm going to call them and find out. That's a significant difference in price.
