Calhoun CC Fall 2014

Published

Anyone applying for Calhoun's nursing program this fall? I am and I am really anxious and excited!!!

I started on them earlier this year but the tb test is two weeks and the hepatitis shots are every couple of months but as long as you start the hepatitis series you're fine. I still have to go back for the physical, hepatitis shots, and have a titer done for chicken pox but I am going to do that after orientation.

If you have a documented TB for the last three years you don't need the 2 step. Yes, you can get the MMR tetorifice and TB the same day. Plus 1 Hep B.

I know they said we need to have our shot records from childhood. I found mine the other day and can you believe it, I never had the MMR Shots. I am 58 years old and never had them, but I have had measles. Don't faint y'all, yep I'm a late in lifer change of career student.

It was the same for me and the chicken pox. I think as long as you get the titer to show immunity you are fine. I'm 28 so I'm starting late also. There's nothing wrong with a career change later in life :)

I had the Hep B series in 93, and the rest of the shots in the mid 90's. They drew up Titers and I was neg for MMR, and Hep B. Can you believe it? So I had to get an MMR, Hep B boosters, and a tetorifice all over again.

Alblove you just a yungin! I worked in the Financial Management field for over 20 years. Relocated here to AL from TX to be closer to grandbabies and was laid off within a year. Go figure. I decided to go to college, get my pre reqs done and go for it. And here I am. Happy, excited, anxious and skeered to death.

I've never had the Hep B series. Guess I need to go to the doc and get them started. My mom found a copy of my immunization record, but my last tetorifice isn't on there...guess I'll be getting one of those done too. And titers for chicken pox (had 'em when I was 8). Fuuuun.

I'll be 35 next month, so not a young 'un either. It's ok, though. Nothing wrong with trying a different road. :)

I'm nervous and scared too. I think we will all be fine though. We can do this! I can't wait to hopefully meet everyone at orientation! :)

I want to meet everyone at orientation also. Our small support group, so I guess the easiest way to do that is to tell everyone our names. I am Susan Cross. Can't wait to see y'all at CPR class and orientation.

Maybe we could make a Facebook group or a group on here if there is an option. I'm Adina Breedlove :)

I see the Nursing Book Bundle is available on Textbook Brokers website for $559. Also Calhoun's bookstore have the books listed individually, but under the first class it says they are still working on the bundle. It will be over $800 bucks

Will the two bundles be the same? Is there any way to know what's in the bundle?
