Anyone applying for Calhoun's nursing program this fall? I am and I am really anxious and excited!!!
My cousin is the head of a Nursing program in MS. She said there is NO way a person can read every word in all the assigned chapters plus do everything else plus focus on your own existence.
She said she has found it's best to read chapters ahead of time if you can. At least skim them BUT focus a lot of your time on the key words for each chapter and the key points and objectives your teachers provide.
I bought the bundle and in the Ebooks it actually reads aloud to you. It was wonderful. I could listen and take notes at same time. Like a private lecture. So that's what I started doing. I'm old school and have to write stuff to assimilate it better than typing. So I have begun writing every key term plus definition and I'm trying the note taking method in our student nurse planner where you divide paper in half. I write my notes from self study in left column and add to or modify from lecture in right column.. It's like writing a big T on your paper.
HOWEVER. I won't know till first test if this method is working. I put in 7-8 hours each of the past 4 non class days and have done another 3 or so roughly after class. Just getting into the swing and staying organized takes a lot.
I finished reading all the chapters, plus what was added on Friday. I have to wake up at 5am to rewrite my highlighted notes so they are fresh for class. I don't read every detail. I made a word bank for unknown/unfamiliar words and made note cards. Main focus for me is the layout of main points provided to us. I have work off the next 5 days so I am going to soak it up and study as much as possible while keeping my sanity. My house was in disarray from being busy, so I took an hour to do that today.

When I went to the bookstore this week the sign out front just said ID and schedule. It didn't say student ID. U can call first and ask. They are also opening early that day at 7:30 am.
