CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY nurse applying for licensure of VERMONT

Published

hi anyone!

Am from CDOC, Phil.. Anybody here applying for NCLEX of Vermont State, who is only waiting for the license verification from PRC? I got mine and been told that its the applicant who is to send it. I plan to send mine, hopefully along with others next week, January 11- 17, 2009 to beat the effectiveness of the new Feb 01, 2009 Format.

I would be glad to hear from anyone!:)

What it is saying is you need CES doing by CGFNS as VT can not verify your training.

--- Is that the same as the verification that I should be getting from PRC or entirely different? I'm a bit confused. And if I file for a CES through CGFNS how do I even begin to do that?

CES is different to verification. Go to http://www.cgfns.org and look for CES and print application off. You will need to resend transcripts to CGFNS and would suggest you print off form to complete

Not sure which program that you went thru. The issue for them is that your school is not on the list that they have as being accredited in the Philippines, meaning approval at least by CHED as well as the PRC.

Did you actually attend a full four year BSN school or is it one of the second-courser or ADN programs as well? And which school did you attend?

Most people are under the assumption that all of the programs offered in the Philippines meet the requirements for licensure here in the US, this is not the case at all. When a school is opened in the Philippines, it may gain approval by your government but the US has no input on any of it and each state has their own specific requirements.

Note that they also make mention of the fact that they want the CES report issued so that they can see if it is an approved program thru CGFNS as well. If CGFNS does not approve it, then you will be unable to work in the US. This is what they are trying to tell you.

Either you go thru CGFNS and their website is www.cgfns.org for the CES or you get the verification from the PRC that your school has their approval for licensure there. Another question for you right from the start would be have you actually sat for the NLE?

I have been a Registered Nurse since I took the board last June 2007. I took the whole 4 yr BSN program. So should I do both? File for CES report plus the PRC? Because I don't recall the PRC giving course-by-course verifications for nursing programs anyway, since that's what they're asking from me (I think). And I only know that they (PRC) verify licenses but I'm not sure that's enough. I would not want to go through the whole 'process' of waiting in vain all over again. And if I file for a CES thru CGFNS it's gonna cost me more than what I paid for my application in VT. So which is which?

You may want to start with PRC and see what they can do ie provide the information they request and if they can't then apply to CGFNS. Either way VT has stated you will not be allowed by them to sit NCLEX without them getting the information

ask help from your school, maybe they have met this kind of problems before, for sure you are not the first vermont applicant from your school..

CES is indeed costly for you..

Follow their instructions on: ".... Contact the government offices in the country where you obtained your education and request that they send us a list of approved nursing programs. The list must indicate the organization that approves the nursing programs, the start and ending date of the approval, a contact person at the office sending us the letter with a direct email address and a website where we can verify this information...".

Basically, you will have to deal with CHED on this matter.

I wish i could help you more or that others could help you on this problem..

Try to post a new thread with your question so that others may notice and may have better advice..

Good luck..

does the CES report replace the requirements for verifications of education and license?

CES is a verification of training and will only ask for license if the state requires it

I hope Vermont should specifically indicate what ces report is needed.

I am confused if it is a full education or the healthcare profession report which cost 378 and 328 respectively.

In some states they require the full education.

I personally would go for the full course by course. If you plan on further education once in the US then the school/university will more than likely ask for it

i emailed vermont twice. and this was their reply when i asked them about my confusion about either getting a ces report or going to prc. also, i'm posting the mail i sent. i hope you guys don't get tired of 'enlightening' me about my case. thanks in advance :)

my mail to vt:

dear ms. lydia pitkin and ms. sandy swenson,

i am ****** from the philippines. a few days ago, you sent me an email me regarding a certain requirement needed for verification purposes specifically regarding my nursing education. my application was received by your office last august 25, 2009 which turned exactly 5 months 3 days after i received your email. i have only two concerns i wanted to ask you before i take any step further regarding my application, as this would be costly on my part. i just wanted to clarify two points exactly. i hope you don't mind me pasting a few paragraphs from your letter to make my point.

  • contact cgfns and request a credentials evaluation service (ces): healthcare profession & science report to be completed for vermont. this report will indicate whether your nursing program holds official approval.

---- i read the faqs on your website and as it said, i don't necessarily have to go through a ces report. right?

  • contact the government offices in the country where you obtained your education and request that they send us a list of approved nursing programs. the list must indicate the organization that approves the nursing programs, the start and ending date of the approval, a contact person at the office sending us the letter with a direct email address and a website where we can verify this information.

---- in the philippines, we have the professional regulating commission (prc) for that but i only know that they verify licenses (like in page 8 of your application form). i have yet to ask them if they actually send a list of approved nursing programs you were asking for. i have sent application forms, specifically the verification of education page/s before you implemented its update. i recall that you updated your forms last october 2008, then december 2008 and mine was received earlier around the last days of august 2008.

for your verification purposes, am i only to send page 8 (stating that the nursing program i took is accredited by our government and a verification of my license) plus a list of the approved nursing programs in my country? or would you suggest that i go through the ces report from cgfns directly instead? which one would give me a better guarantee that my application be approved?

irregardless, your attention in this matter would be highly appreciated. however, i am fervently hoping for your consideration regarding my case.

this was vt's reply:

[color=maroon][color=maroon]good afternoon,

[color=maroon][color=maroon]the ces is not required in order to apply, but it is often requested to clarify issues when an application cannot be evaluated by our office. it is only one of the options you have in this situation, it is not required. we suggest that you contact the commission on higher education and request that they send our office a list of approved nursing programs that includes the initial date of approval and the duration of the approval validity. as soon as we receive such a list (and many many applicants will be requesting it, so we hope to receive one soon) we will process your application. we believe that the commission on higher education will comply with this request, so obtaining a ces report may not be necessary.

Agreed,

We did the full course by course, only took about 30 days, I had Philippines Nursing College to expidite Transcripts to CGNFS.

Overall I would say the whole process is easy
