CA NCLEX Takers...How Long For Results?

Published

Hi All,

I am new here and just wanted to see how long it took for the Cali takers to get their results. I know it is supposed to be about a month, but one girl I know got hers in 11 days. I guess I am just trying to see what the average is. I took mine on May 7th and I am going bonkers!

Thanks!

Oh, I didn't say in the above post but I took the NCLEX on May 7th...still waiting...

BTW once you get your results and hopefully pass, you then have to send in $$$ for the license and that takes another 3-4 weeks to get the actual license! An alternative and what some of my classmates did, is the day after they got their results they drove to Sacramento, paid there at the BON and got their license that day. As I'm not doing anything but sitting on my a** it is what I plan on doing. That is if you live near, of course if you live in Southern Cal this may not be too feasible but if the BON was in LA, I think I'd probably drive down because I just want all this waiting over! Of course once you've paid the BON you should appear in the computer sooner than 3-4 weeks, you just don't have the actual license and that is enough for some employers. Some of my classmates said some employers want to see the actual license. And I am still in limbo...I felt good about the NCLEX but I am not completely confident about it.

I had a girlfriend who took her NCLEX in Las Vegas thinking she could get Quick Results. Apparently not if you are getting your license from California! She had to wait more than a month to find out her results!

Thank you all for your help. I got my results today and PASSED!!!!!

WOW That is so frustrating that it takes so long to find out our results in this state!!! I totally thought some friends of mine who graduated in December got theirs within a matter of days. Do you think its because spring is a busier graduating season??? Are you talking about having it mailed to you or did you check online to see if your license had been put up yet??? That is how these girls found out...

WELL, I take my test Monday (9th)... Let's get this show on the road!!!!

thank you all for your help. i got my results today and passed!!!!!

congratulations!!! it is day 28 for me and still nothing! but i took my exam on the same day as you (may 7th) so it gives me hope that the wait will soon be over! but i am still very nervous!

anyhow...

congratulations!!!

Well it's been 27 days since I took the NCLEX in San Francisco. Yes I have a SS#. All my classmates had SS# and all of us have had to wait 3-4 weeks. A few waited more than a month. It is frustrating, that daily mailbox trip because you just want to know. You heart pounds on the trip to the mailbox but hey, pass or fail, I just want to know! I feel my life is in limbo. I have read many posts where people say CA NCLEX results take about 2 weeks with all your paperwork and etc. I just wanted to say that we all have had complete paperwork (we can't graduate without everything complete) and SS# and ALL of us have had to wait 3-4 weeks and it's awful!!! the good news is that so far no one in my class has failed the exam. Then I get insecure because what if I'm the first??? I had 109 questions and I know I got the last one right for sure but I still have my doubts. I felt pretty good leaving the exam but as you wait and wait you feel more insecure, there were lots of meds I never heard of!!! Tomorrow will be exactly 4 weeks - 28 days!!! aaawww!

Actually the BRN may not have had everything received. This is different from you having to have everything done in order to graduate. They do not release scores until your file is complete with them and schools do not always send out transcripts immediately and there could have been issues with fingerprints as well.. If all have been waiting that length of time then it is an issue with school sending in the transcripts, etc. The BRN will permit you to test as long as your name is on the roster from your school.

Number of questions and getting the last one right or wrong has no bearing on your results.

I wish you the best on the positive outcome that you are waiting for. You may wish to check with the BRN to make sure that they have a completed file on you. Anytime after two weeks, we always recommend that one checks with them.

I have NO doubt it may have had to do with our school! I have been suspecting that! We graduated at the end of October 2007, it took 3 months to get our ATT in the mail. Some tested at the end of Feb (those were the first available test dates), most in March, I was scheduled for March 11th but when I went to the testing site wasn't in the computer, there was some sort of screw up but I can't say whose fault because it could have been mine. I had a vacation planned the last 2 weeks in March, so I rescheduled the exam when I got a new ATT and the soonest date was May 7th. So here I am, 29 days since taking the NCLEX and still no results! BTW I went to Unitek College, don't expect too much organization but I did get through in 11 months so I can't complain too much. The worst thing is, I left feeling fairly good about the exam but as each day passes and still nothing, I start to doubt myself!! :(

Dear Suzanne,

Thank you! I took your advice and called the BOVN in Sacramento. The man I spoke to said my file was processed on June 2nd (this Monday). And he said your letter may have gone out today or yesterday. He said you should receive it by Saturday. I wanted so bad to ask if I passed but I am sure they aren't allowed to say. Now I will be analyzing that phone conversation, replaying it in my head although it means nothing. He was very nice. Usually they aren't but I know that means nothing.

I just wish the process in Cali could be the same as every other state in the US!

OMG, I am so nervous! but that said at least I know it is coming probably tomorrow or Sat! If I hadn't called I would have no idea! So thank you!

You are quite welcome, hope that you get the results that you are waiting for.

But be aware that only about 1/2 of the states actually participate in Quick Results; far from it being all of the others. And there are quite a few that do not hear anything for at least ten days or so.

Just noticed that you are also talking about the LVN license and not the RN exam. They also do things differently in the fact that they do not have you pay for the license until you pass the exam and submit payment for it. All of the other states just make you pay for the license whether or not you qualify for it, and if you do not, then you need to pay for it again. So in that aspect, they are on your side. It is very well known fact that average wait is about three to four weeks to receive the letter in the mail and then another week or so once payment for the license is made.

I didn't know that about the quick results! I mean I thought it was just California but I remember I did a list of states and yes, it wasn't every state!

If I passed I plan on driving to Sacramento. I have friends who were up on the online boards in 2 weeks, others who took longer. And it is still longer to get the actual physical license (one of my friends said some employers wanted the actual physical license to see and verify). Not much longer, maybe a week after your name appears online (from what friends have told me). I've waited so long that the trip would be welcome! but still don't know if I passed or not!

but I can't thank you enough for suggesting the phone call. I assumed they would just say, we don't know, you'll have to wait etc, but the person I spoke to at least let me know the letter is in the mail...

and Sacramento isn't so far from San Francisco...(for mail to arrive from)

Tomorrow will be 30 days, Saturday will be exactly one month from the day I took the NCLEX...

HannaBee...I have a feeling that tomorrow is your day! Mine was stamped 'June 2' so I don't know if that is the same as processed. I'll keep checking on you to see!!!
