I recently graduated from a school in Florida and I'm now trying to endorse a CA license. I've submitted everything to the board of nursing and I have not heard a thing. I know they're investigating schools, but my school isn't on the list and I did work hard to complete my program. Is anyone else in this situation? I've waited 7 weeks. I know it could take 10-12weeks. I just have a job lined up and want to start soon. I hate I'm in this situation, it's so not fair for those who've worked hard.
Thanks
Replying to RnnextNp: yes there are two schools that I am aware of that are approved and their students endorsed. I won't list them to endorse any particular school.
Hello Kathie_1, Institutional accreditation is not a requirement for endorsement or licensure in California; Approval is a requirement. The program has to be approved by the oversight agency in the state that it resides which is typically the board of nursing. In some states, the board of nursing/ and or oversight agencies require schools to get accreditation after a few years. Most schools have to start as an unaccredited school and after a few years they are eligible to apply for accreditation. It wouldn't make sense for the board to put those students at new schools at risk. To endorse to California, your school will have to demonstrate that their curriculum is equivalent to California's curriculum. Simply call the california board of nursing to determine if your school is under review; they will review a school when the initial graduate from that out-of-state school applies for a California license. Once your school's review is complete and meets the standards, all future students will not have to go through that review. That is the current practice for California BON. Unfortunately, some schools do not respond, are slow to respond, or submit incomplete information to the California board when they ask for documentation for the review. Sometimes, they do submit, but the California board may have a backlog. If you find that your school is under review, ensure to follow up with your Nursing Program director to ensure that they responded to the Board review and that they submitted all required documents for the review. You may also attempt to find out from the California board if your school did submit the required documents that makes a difference in the waiting time. Please also note that accredited schools also have to go through the same process. I hope this information is helpful to you.

I would definitely try finding another school. There's nightingale college or try ichs.edu. Those are the popular out of state accredited schools for Ca. Hope this helps

This school looks like a scam to me. I couldn't even read the website because of the pop up requesting personal information. This is the first symptom. The second symptom is that claim that their instructors are "qualified." If they really were, it should not need to be stated that they were. The 3rd symptom is that it's in Florida where the business model is the wild, wild West. Anything goes in this type of pop up college that Florida allows. Please be careful.

How does this process work?
It depends on the state you are trying to get your license in . Some states will require it . Maryland is one of that states that require you to retake the NCLEX & entire program if they deny your school

Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC)
What my concern is, I live here in California and will California endorse this school?
You will have to ask the BON of California. They have their own specific requirements which tend to be stricter. I have never heard of the above accrediting agencies.
