I recently graduated from a school in Florida and I'm now trying to endorse a CA license. I've submitted everything to the board of nursing and I have not heard a thing. I know they're investigating schools, but my school isn't on the list and I did work hard to complete my program. Is anyone else in this situation? I've waited 7 weeks. I know it could take 10-12weeks. I just have a job lined up and want to start soon. I hate I'm in this situation, it's so not fair for those who've worked hard.
Thanks

I am attending a school which is not accredited by approved by florida BON.California will let me endorse my license or not, I have some friends who are telling me that the school have to be accredited nationally. I am really stressed.
I would leave that school immediately and enroll in an accredited program. Why would anyone give their money to an unaccredited school?
I looked up your school and its accreditation is for FL BON, not ca. the school should be ACEN accreditation. How far in the program are you? I would definitely try finding another school. There's Nightingale College or try ichs.edu. Those are the popular out of state accredited schools for Ca. Hope this helps
Hello Kathie_1, Institutional accreditation is not a requirement for endorsement or licensure in California; Approval is a requirement. The program has to be approved by the oversight agency in the state that it resides which is typically the board of nursing. In some states, the board of nursing/ and or oversight agencies require schools to get accreditation after a few years. Most schools have to start as an unaccredited school and after a few years they are eligible to apply for accreditation. It wouldn't make sense for the board to put those students at new schools at risk. To endorse to California, your school will have to demonstrate that their curriculum is equivalent to California's curriculum. Simply call the california board of nursing to determine if your school is under review; they will review a school when the initial graduate from that out-of-state school applies for a California license. Once your school's review is complete and meets the standards, all future students will not have to go through that review. That is the current practice for California BON. Unfortunately, some schools do not respond, are slow to respond, or submit incomplete information to the California board when they ask for documentation for the review. Sometimes, they do submit, but the California board may have a backlog. If you find that your school is under review, ensure to follow up with your Nursing Program director to ensure that they responded to the Board review and that they submitted all required documents for the review. You may also attempt to find out from the California board if your school did submit the required documents that makes a difference in the waiting time. Please also note that accredited schools also have to go through the same process. I hope this information is helpful to you.

It depends. What school do you attend?
