CA-BVNPT now requires IENs to undergo CGFNS

I have a friend who recently received a letter from BVNPT. Yep, she wanted to challenge the NCLEX-PN through BVNPT because of the current BRN's requirement for IENs to take up deficient courses like Med-Surg, OB, Psych, Peds, etc. She is apparently required to undergo CGFNS before getting the eligibility to take NCLEX-PN from BVNPT. This saddened her so much cuz she waited almost 6 months (including the sending of transcripts to the board, etc.) to receive an eligibility letter, and then she has to process her transcripts to CGFNS (much longer).

She said that BVNPT started to do this rule, policy or requirement last April or May 2016. Is this true? I applied last 2015, so I'm not affected. However, I have heard that a number of applicants (IENs who want to challenge the NCLEX-PN) are now required to process through CGFNS. If you're one of them, please comment so that we'll know how the application is going for this new process for IENs. It might be an upsetting, tiring, or saddening change. But please comment so that others will be flagged or informed right away. Thank you.

Yes it is true and there have been threads discussing this

Yes they require CES now. just do it it's easy and quick. I got my CES report less than a month after I submitted all the required documents.

As I said in my post, I'm not affected cuz I already applied last 2015 and successfully passed the NCLEX-PN. I currently work as LPN now. Since you mentioned that BVNPT requires CES, I'm gonna talk to my friend about it. Is CES the only requirement for BVNPT? Is it the same thing as applying to other States where transcripts from the native country must be submitted?

I just found out that the BVNPT recognizes services either from CGFNS or ERES for the evaluation of educational transcripts. Hope this helps to everybody who is reading this.

Hi! did you applied to expedite your CES application? Less than a month was quick!

Hello there @Bentolbeng. I did not apply for CES through CGFNS cuz I applied last 2015 for BVNPT. I saw the letter from my friend. The BVNPT started to require IENs (effective April 1, 2016) who seek for equivalent eduactional transcripts to be evaluated by a nationally accredited agency to determine program equivalency. By that, the letter adds that you can choose either CGFNS or ERES. The letter tells you the instruction on what to do next. The end part says:

"The credentialing reports from the credentialing agency must be received in the unopened business envelope of the credentialing agency and include the credentialing agency's course by course report and evaluation results, as well as a copy of the original transcript and a copy of the envelope the transcript was received in by the credentialing agency. The board will not accept an evaluation report that was received by the credentialing agency from an unofficial transcript. Your eligibility for licensure cannot be determined until all required documents are submitted."

By reading that letter, it's better to apply first for CES from CGFNS, or your transcripts to be evaluated by ERES before sending out application forms to the BVNPT. I believe it's better to wait for CES or evaluated transcripts, and send that along with your application form, fee, fingerprinting form, and so on. That way, you don't need to waste more time waiting.

I hope that @dreamtheater will reply to us about how the CES application went for him. I think what @dreamtheater said is that, he got his CES report in less than a month after he submitted all the required documents for CES only. Now, that doesn't count your days or weeks of requesting your transcripts again from your school. I don't know what documents are needed for CES. You can make an account at cgfns.org if you want to start the application immediately.

Hi there @vinnyfromtheblock, i am still on the process of my cgfns application CES for nclex pn. They received my documents from Philippines march8 & 10. Yesterday, i sent my high school diploma. The status of my application online is still "waiting to be received"

i hope your friend could process it soon.í ½í¸Š

Oh nice. Good job! High five! The good thing about sending your documents to CGFNS is that your documents are automatically saved in the CGFNS portal for future purposes. You can even extend the years your documents can be saved just by paying a couple of bucks. Just in case if you want to apply to other States that require CES, you can use that. I applied for another State that requires CGFNS. For example, if you want to apply for NCLEX-RN in Hawaii, the board of nursing there requires CES professional report from CGFNS for IENs. So, you're using CES not only for CA-BVNPT, but for other States as well. A number of States require CGFNS, and usually they require CES. So, you're in good hands.

Yeah, hopefully she'll be able to process it soon.

Really? Thank you for this info. i don't know that it is saved in their portal.so if i apply to other states, i could just ask them and just pay?

Yes, your documents will be saved regardless of what order (CES professional report, CES academic report, Certification Program, and so on) you are placing. About asking them for another CES report and pay them, I'm not sure. Mine is different. I applied for New York State, and NY has specific service from CGFNS. It's called CVS (credential verification service). But for sure, yes, your documents will be saved, and CGFNS will continuously ask you to extend the saving of your documents. Usually they e-mail you around November or December each year. You can choose the 1-year or 5-year extension, or whatever. In that case, regardless of what order you're placing, I believe you can use your saved documents for another application process specific for the State you are interested to apply. Sounds cool, huh? Hehe. One CES report can lead to multiple purposes. But still, it depends upon the requirements of the State's board of nursing.
