CA BRN New Requirements For NCLEX RN international students

Published

I had already registered online in Pearson Vue but I think I'm not yet eligible to take the test. Is there an expiration date for my registration at PV?

I received a letter from CA BON requesting for new requirements such as:

  1. SS number
  2. Local license in the Philippines
  3. Copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing, and major/minor surgeries
  4. A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum
  5. A one-page curriculum outline and academic calendar.

Fortunately, I had the first 2 requirements but I am worried that the last 3 will take time to be accomplished.

I am wondering if it's just me who have this requirement. Most of NCLEX passers I know weren't required on those listed above. It's really hard to focus on review while your thinking of this :uhoh3:

add me in my ym account [email protected].. so we can chat about our deficiency.. :(

I think the BRN is just requiring the Fil graduates who graduated from year 2005 onwards. That's why majority of Fil grad applicants who are already RN from the Philippines, because they graduated earlier, were not required for evaluation of cases.

I received the same letter... What's your next move? Still confuse with mine;(

Unfortunately, I was one of the ones who received the "letter". After applying for almost 7 months I finally got the "boot". The requirement was everything was as described and even after so many requirement submissions they still required the concurrent cases.

. tnx so we can share about our deficiency.

Did you guys find a school who's accepting students with deficiencies?

Hi all, for those looking into retaking their classes, try Grossmont College in the San Diego Area, and Cerritos college in in the Los Angeles Area. These are community colleges, meaning the cost of tuition is not as expensive as state colleges, but you must be a resident of CA for one year, or have taken your high school in CA, to be eligible for state tuition. There are grants that can help reduce or waive tuition cost for the semester, or even pay for books free. For those who wants to take their NCLEX right away, apply in another state like Washington or Hawaii, I hear it only takes a month to be eligible.

Does anyone know for sure if Grossmont College is entertaining our special situation? I wish they would since im around the area =). Has Anyone successfully enrolled to any school for those subjects needed for BRN?

Yeah i heArd Cerritos College is accepting students but you have to take the 5 levels of Med-Surg.It will take 2 years or more to finish it.:(

There's also Pierce College, Woodland Hills for So Cal and San Franciso State Univ. for Nor Cal community colleges, I've posted their information and Pierce's special nursing deficiency form much earlier. The open spots are very limited, you need to make your own inquiries and expect to wait for awhile if they aren't already filled.

The problem with the oversea's friend and a couple of her friends that I'm trying to help out, it will not matter to them, since they don't have a valid SSN, so it's no good for them to take any CA courses now and have been going out of state with those not requiring a SSN upon the initial application stage and or where a SSN is needed even after getting their ATT and passing the NCLEX before that state's BON issues the license to them. They didn't tell me exactly which states those were.

hi there kabayan, thanx for the post, good thing we have it in here nearby..do u think it takes a year or more to finish it all? ...by the way your deficiency was OB and MS right?..so when do u plan to enroll?...

You're welcome kabayan.I don't know if how long will it take.If you want,we can go there on your free time.I went there once but planning to back for some questions.Bring your transcript, course descriptions or syllabus.I think they will evaluate it,especially Math and English and if they found out that it's the same as their course description,we dont have to take the pre- req subjects. They only accept students once a year and since we are only taking make up classes,we'll wait until there are available slots for that particular subjects. And one thing more,we have to take their 2 Pharmacology subjects in one semester.
