I had already registered online in Pearson Vue but I think I'm not yet eligible to take the test. Is there an expiration date for my registration at PV?
I received a letter from CA BON requesting for new requirements such as:
SS number
Local license in the Philippines
Copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing, and major/minor surgeries
A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum
A one-page curriculum outline and academic calendar.
Fortunately, I had the first 2 requirements but I am worried that the last 3 will take time to be accomplished.
I am wondering if it's just me who have this requirement. Most of NCLEX passers I know weren't required on those listed above. It's really hard to focus on review while your thinking of this

While I can't speak of Grossmont, Cerritos, SFSU or CCSF, I do know from my overseas friend who has been looking into the CA colleges and school, I do know that Pierce College foreign nursing deficiency program is very limited as I mentioned. So if the other colleges are like Pierce, you're competing with other already enrolled US nursing students in the program and any open spots (space available) in the course you need to take, then the school will allow you to take the course.
Note that Pierce has only 40 enrolled students, that's the entire nursing population and there was 1-2 open spots for any foreign last semester. SFSU has only up to 80 students, but not sure how many spots were left for foreign students, my guess is probably also just a couple of available spots.
Please keep in mind, these colleges are not offering a class of 10 or 40 or 80 foreign students to take the deficient courses. CA colleges and schools today are even cutting back on classes as there's no money to support new classes, no money to bring on new teachers, the schools have to make due with what's little money they have to do the regular classes.
I can tell you that before my overseas friend was competing with her own classmates after getting word even among the 4-5 of them, they were going after the same 1-2 spots, so imagine the numbers of other unknown foreign applicants trying to get in the class. It's truly "first-come, first served", after passing any pre-testing exams and pre-req's filled.
But now they scratched CA off their list, given the no valid SSN problem, insufficient clinical hours and/or the concurrency issue problems, they have applied to other states so as to not waste any more time doing the CA thing, which can be 2-3 years at the minimum.
They are looking to getting their licenses out of CA, will work on the deficiencies in that other state and maybe will try to come back to CA, with not only some RN working experience, but with a completed college transcript, but they are not sure if they will be able to get their SSN by then. Again, I don't know which states they have gone to, other than it's now slowly happening for them.
Did you guys find a school who's accepting students with deficiencies?
Outside of the regular and traditional schools and colleges that offers other courses (geography, English, Math, Chem, Arts, etc), besides nursing, be very careful if you start to see "colleges or schools" or businesses that offer you to enroll in "their" courses and offers they can cure your deficiencies very quickly, very easily and at some high tuition fees.
If they advertise in your local newspaper, where say I can't read due to it's in foreign writings and they promise you guaranteed results to get it done and if they claim with testimonies, slick website, certificates hanging in their offices and classrooms AND they are claiming they are 100% CA BON approved. Make sure they are really on CA BON approved listings but simply going to their website or e-mailing CA BON directly.
I would hate to see any scammers out there trying to prey on so many innocent students just so they can afford to pay their life's loves and material things and other illegal gains and in return, there's no true benefits at all to the students and nothing more than empty promises.
If you find such an outfit that claims they can meet CA BON deficiencies, post up so others can start their own investigations with CA BON. If they are a scam and enough inquiries gets to CA BON, they will check out the outfit(s) and if they are illegal, they will shut them down, hopefully before anyone gets hurt by their fees and wasting precious time.
Like most of you here, I'm the same boat as you are. CA BON sent me a letter requesting a copy of my clinical cases. The problem is it takes money, a lot of effort coz I am residing here in OC and Im 8 mos. pregnant. Been considering either to take LVN exam or take the nursing boards in Nevada.
Just thinking, will I be able to request my credentials as an RN grad to be forwarded to the CA Board of Vocational Nursing. The board has all my original documents such as diploma, TOR (transcript of records) and a syllabus of all my subjects duly signed by our College Dean.
Unless you're absolutely certain that your cases solves the concurrency issue most of are facing then I highly recommend that you don't go through the trouble of requesting/sending. That, of course, unless you want to end up like the rest of us and give CA another reason to deny an applicant.

Thanks for your concern sallyp911,I appreciate it.I'm actually looking at BRN's approved schools and I already found one which is City COllege of SAn Francisco.They do participate in BRN's deficiency problem.But it's not that easy to get in because we are only enrolling few subjects and they process student applications by lottery.It's really a long process.But I'm willing to wait until I get in.Right now I'm working on my pre-req subjects to be evaluated.God bless us all.
i just spoke with my licensing analyst from bon. i am also required to pay $30 fee so they will process my request of endorsing my documents to the board of vocational nursing. i don't wanna stress anymore, worrying about being denied again since it's hard for me to process these additional new req. such as my clinical cases since i am here in cali and don't wanna bug anybody else back home in the philippines to process the deficiencies for me. not only it is costly but it is time-consuming. i decided that the best thing for me to do is to go ahead and process my lvn application and pray hard that it won't cause me too much pain just like what i experienced with ca bon.
Transferring your documents from one agency to another should be fairly simple and should jump start your application process. I'm glad you've chosen to pursue being an LVN, but in my opinion you shouldn't limit yourself to only California since you've only tackled one out of the possible fifty states. Like the saying goes, "aim for the sky".

Does the california board of nursing will accept the written explanation of our school regarding the concurrency issue? because i already requested them to make a written explanation on that matter thx
Based on my own experience,I sent an explanation letter written by my dean stating all the reasons why I didn't finish my L&D cases when the course was offered and same as Minor and major cases when MS was offered,but still I got denied.My analyst told me that the letter couldn't change the fact that I didn't meet the minimum requirements of CA BRN.
