CA BRN New Requirements For NCLEX RN international students

World Registration

Published

I had already registered online in Pearson Vue but I think I'm not yet eligible to take the test. Is there an expiration date for my registration at PV?

I received a letter from CA BON requesting for new requirements such as:

  1. SS number
  2. Local license in the Philippines
  3. Copy of ur clinical rotation schedule for your cases: Assisted/Actual deliveries, cord dressing, and major/minor surgeries
  4. A complete school curriculum hundred pages or more sent directly from ur nursing school to the board. (the board doesn't accept the condensed version of the curriculum
  5. A one-page curriculum outline and academic calendar.

Fortunately, I had the first 2 requirements but I am worried that the last 3 will take time to be accomplished.

I am wondering if it's just me who have this requirement. Most of NCLEX passers I know weren't required on those listed above. It's really hard to focus on review while your thinking of this :uhoh3:

Right now,i'm working on my LVN and pre-req subjects upon admission to RN program.I don't have any plans to apply for another state for now. What about you?

I did sent my re application last week and still waiting for the letter. Anyway I'm trying to figure out what's the best thing to do if my application will be denied. I'm thinking of pursuing LVN/LPN (are they the same?) but ist possible to send a new set of application to BVNPT?

@dragon_lady : working on my LVN and pre-req subjects upon admission to RN program? how are you doing this?

I went to City College of San Francisco and they told me they are participating BRN's make up class on a space available basis.Upon admission, they have to see my transcript and have it evaluated to know if the course description is the same with them so they can credit it.The most important requirement upon admission is taking up Math and English. If you think Math and English is the same as your course description in your school, then all you have to do is get it waived by Dean of Math and English major.

Hi ... iam jhon from van nuys ca... i have the same scenario with u guys.. the california brn is requiring me to send my clinical cases ( OB / OR CASES). Does the california board of nursing will accept the written explanation of our school regarding the concurrency issue? because i already requested them to make a written explanation on that matter thx
. Hello... Hi I'm from van nuys Cali too... Same here I got denied by NclexRN Cali.. Nway my application on lvn still pending for evaluation. I called the lvn board and said that they are working on application dated January... It takes 12-14 weeks!!!! Geezzee... Take so long... Nway good luck to us... Hope we can in touch with each other.. Pm me at [email protected] hope to hear from u.

i have been following these forums for quite some time now. i just moved here in ca this february and like everybody else i'm also a nurse, a bsn holder and a registered one in the philippines. as far as i want to be registered here, i know it won't happen for now with the concurrency issue on the line. as much as i want to apply for the nclex-rn, i know it will be just a waste of time and money considering my cases were also not aligned with each semester. so i'm not gonna gamble, instead i will take lvn for now. just a question guys, which method should i accomplish? is it method 2 or 3?

how many months or years is the pre req subjects upon admission to RN?

@ jhoneusebio,

It depends on the school. In City College of San FRancisco, they only require Math and English to get in to the program. The 2 subjects will take one semester.

if u finish one semester u can apply again on CA BRN?

if u finish one semester u can apply again on CA BRN?

No what i meant was one semester for the pre-req subjects. And the Nursing department told me to enroll the 2 Pharmacology subjects after the pre-req subjects, then the deficiencies(2 levels of MS, Basic and Advance MS), and Maternal and Newborn care.So probably it will take 2 years or more.:(

thats too long arghhh...

I told my Foreign grad Filipino friend about this CA issue last night and she does not believe me. She applied last June 2011. And last March 2012 the CA BRN told her that her College diploma is required. she is confident that her application will have no problems.

I'm confused how come she still has not yet receive a letter that her CA application will be denied?
