Hi all, for those looking into retaking their classes, try Grossmont College in the San Diego Area, and Cerritos college in in the Los Angeles Area. These are community colleges, meaning the cost of tuition is not as expensive as state colleges, but you must be a resident of CA for one year, or have taken your high school in CA, to be eligible for state tuition. There are grants that can help reduce or waive tuition cost for the semester, or even pay for books free. For those who wants to take their NCLEX right away, apply in another state like Washington or Hawaii, I hear it only takes a month to be eligible.

Hey Shannalim, I am also applying for eligibility in WA as an international graduate. Was just wondering if you eventually ended up applying in CA, or if the nursing commission waived Toefl? I already sent my fingerprints a couple of weeks ago, and the CGFNS report a week prior, but haven't yet received any reply letter listing what else I needed. I am hoping to receive one in order to decide whether I should study and make an appointment to take TOEFL, or continue study for the NCLEX while waiting for the eligibility. Additionally, does the FBI check take a long time to process? Thanks and good luck with your test.

Hello guys! Does Washington require a local NLE license? And, how's the job market for nurses there?

Nice! Really appreciate the info. I was deciding whether to apply for Cerritos or Grossmont. Grossmont doesn't have the two prereqs but the program has two psychiatric nursing courses, PSYCHIATRIC-MENTAL HEALTH nursing (3 units) and NEUROLOGIC & PSYCHIATRIC Nursing (5 units), a total of 8 units--I may as well be a psychiatrist going through all that education. Cerritos just seems more cost-effective.

Thanks for the reply, i was actually reading the course catalog and registration today; i was shocked by the amount and price of the books. I guess I'll have another year of nursing school fun! Nsg 230 has concurrent community nursing too? What fun! Can Nsg 26 and 215 be taken together?

Do they only offer Nsg 26 and 215 only on the Fall or do they have them in the Spring as well? How about Psych nursing? Thanks

Really, it can be very frustrating if that is the case. I'm from the same school as eats and I haven't heard anyone who has received eligibility yet from my batch. Hopefully, someone would get lucky, me for one would appreciate it. Though, going back to school just to see how classes in California's nursing program is conducted could be an interesting experience. So there's Cerritos and Grossmont in San Diego that offers it. Has anyone here taken the Option F in Cerritos? When are the prereqs and Psychiatric nursing conducted, Spring/Fall?

Yup, thanks. I was able to find out about those two schools online. Its a Grossmonth, they don't have the same prerequisites as Cerritos. Wish there was a closer school to Western Los Angeles, though. Guess we just have to make sacrifices to earn that licencense I haven't actually received the letter telling me to make up a class, but I'm interested to know what actually is wrong with our psychiatric nursing that they usually point out? I heard from one that lecture and clinicals are not concurrently taken and that some don't have enough clinical exposure.

I would like to know, if any of the evaluators have given any options as to how to make up these hours? Did they give out a list of colleges in CA that has these make up programs?

Thanks for the advise! I think I've got it down now. I've got some Hurst lecture materials to get me focus on the important topics and started answering questions from Saunders Q and A book. As soon as I finish that book, I would move to La Charity's prioritization book and then start doing NCLEX 4000 questions.

Pinoy here from San Diego, still waiting for my ATT for 2 months now. What's a good book to study first, La Charity? I've read Saunder's, not sure if anything sticked. Perhaps I should read it again? Or maybe start answering test questions. I'm so lost. Let's help each other please!
