..Ok, I read alot of posts in here about our beloved CA BRN, i was thinking ?? how long should it really take to see results online. soooo since i am waiting for my reults (still) for my second time and since i am not working anymore ..i figured i do a little computing.
OK, i have to make several assumptions (obviously) since i do not work for the CA BRN.
this is what i am going to ASSUME.
#1 I say it takes (from my opionion) approxiamtely 60 seconds for a live person to concur that one has passed and process your "file"
lets walk though this shall we:
step A-pearson view computers AUTOMATICALLY send your score to the BRN after you click the last question. Pass or fail
step B-"Bob" (lets call him that), sees your name on the conmputer (from pearson view..it says either PASS or FAIL..pretty simple here.
if PASS--then "BoB', clicks on a link on his computer with your "file", "BoB" can see if your file is complete, becasue there is a message,. that says wither "complete" or "not complete"
if 'Complete" then" Bob" clicks on a button that says something like, "issue liscense"..
the computer (arnt we glad we live in the computer age) , anyway the computer assigns you the next lisc # availible and puts it on the CA BRN website
NOW, you can time this process..and it took me 60 seconds (mock)
buts lets say................."bob" is a talker, he likes to "shoot the breeze", sooo lets put it from 60 seconds per applicant to 5 WHOLE MONUTES PER PERSON.
fair enough ?
#2 assumption--The CA BRN has 10 people whose job it is to do this "job"
#3--(actually i looked this one up) There are 13 pearson view centers in CA
#4 assumption, there are approxiamtely 5 people per day at each center taking the RN NCLEX, now..i had several people there taking other tests at the center, pearson view handles alot of different state certifications
so.
13 test centers X 5 people per test center for the RN NCLEX=65 RN NCLEX examiness per day TOTAL in CA (5 days per week)
they only test in once a day for the RN NCLEX
so, 10 CA BRN ppl assigned to "process" applications., 5 minutes per person
7 hours a day (its govnt job soo 8 hr day +lunch and breaks)
EACH BRN person can "should " process about 12 applicats per hour x 7 hour day=84 applicats per day
84 applicants per person per day, X 10 BRN employees=840 application per day in CALIFORNIA
we only have 64 applicats per day...??!!!!!! and they can process 840 ??!!!! per day (EASILY)
now, please tell me..where my math is wrong ?? im really open minded but really ??
now if you fail, that might take a minute longer cause you will have to print out an extra form (AGAIN, FROM THE COMPUTER) that tells you areas of strength and weakness
oh and plus putting a name and stamp on the envelope, WE ALL KNOW HOW TIME CONSUMING THAT IS !

BREATH my friend. how long has it been for you? im probably sure that your assumptions are right. but you're missing the point in everything. the word "Goverment" should tell you that whatever they do, they do it slowly. Just think DMV, social security, county hospitals, etc...

hehehe.i think jon is right. unless their computer is not working fast.if ever someone passed, they dont "manually" checked if your files are complete.they check it on the computer if you called the brn, dont believe the customer service if they told you that they dont know your result.hehehe.
LOL, naw im fine, I made this mostly as a joke, with a "tad" bit of "come on now people,"...
you know people from the BRN are in here, reading these posts.
Heck, they mabye at work right now, on their coffee break laughing at all of us, stressing out sipping their coffee saying to their co-worker "hey AL, come over here and look at this one.... :)
well just put his "file" on the bottom.
I tested on march 17th (last monday), My second time..I dont feel to good about it (but then again, who does ?)..i missed the last 2 questions for sure and then it turned off..eeekkk,
i got 120 questions, the first time i got 215. sooo i know it means nada, but..
my only hope is that i tested with 4 people on or bout the same day as me..i know them all (from class and work) and none of them has their name on the website either.
soo either we all failed together, which would explain seeing none of our names online. OR
"BoB" is just being 'Bob" :)

what have you done ?
jon, maybe he is suggesting a hobby that you can do while waiting for your result.correct me if i am wrong.
yes, you are right gwafuh. He said he is not working and he is clearly obsessing and probably driving himself and others around him crazy so I thought maybe he could take his mind off trying to read the minds and actions of the CA BRN staff.
No surprise that we all once again got a glimpse at his resume.

Guys,
Tongue-in-cheek comments sometimes have a place, but at this point let's please stick to NCLEX-related discussion and stay away from the personal exchanges.

you should take into consideration those who are taking NCLEX for CA BRN in test centers outside CA (other states, international test sites..) ?!?

I think government workers are one of the laziest and incompetent and inefficient workers. I can say this because I was once a federal worker and everyone slacked and I ended up slacking as well. I guess government work is very secure and just as long as yo udon't make trouble you will have yor job for life. and it really doesn't matter if you are slow or really slow at your job just as long as you get the job done really late it is still ok. this is called job security.
i called california BON and got no one to return my calls. the voice message always says that they are recieving a high volume of calls, please call back later or leave message.
at least where i am, they answer their phone in a timely manner and answer most of yor questions. I still need for them to process my ATT letter though.
Amen to that.
You know, All "we" expect is for them (the CA BRN) to just to take a "reasonable" amount of time processing our files and sending out a fail letter or put the names online.
I still do not know why CA does not participate in quick results
it make NO sense
..
people will say, 'CA has more test takers, " cause we are a bigger state,
BUT.
everything is proportoinal, right..
CA has more motorist
so we have more cars
CA has more test takers, because we have more people
so CA BRn has more employees....etc..
..now some people DO get their results in 3 days and others take 20 ?? the paperwork all goes to one office.
If one employee/Examiner has a full stack of paper work and another employee has a smaller stack
wouldnt it make sense to give the next file to the examiner with the smaller stack ?? (somewhat simplified i know..but my point is made)
