I've been a member of this board for quite some time now. When I first joined I was pretty convinced that nursing was for me. Since becomming a mom, and seeing the realities of nursing school and the career, my decision has wavered. Now I'm sure that it's just not for me. So, I'm saying goodbye. I've decided that if I'm going to ever leave the job I have now it's going to be to pursue my dream, which I've found is not nursing. honestly thought it was but if I'm having this many doubts then I'm pretty sure it's not. IMO, no one should go into this field with any doubt in their heart...
I have decided to work toward finishing my bachelors degree, in child studies. I love children and I'd love love love to teach. It's always been my dream, more so than nursing. So, I'm taking steps in that direction. I found a state school that offers bachelors degrees online so I don't need to sacrifice my job or my time with my precious family. I'm psyched!
So, thank you to all of you who have offered advice. I will never forget any of you. Who knows, maybe someday I'll be back. Until then, goodbye and good luck!!

I was looking at teacher cert before I decided on nursing. Both are good fields because your work matters. Good luck :).

I'm glad you stopped in to say goodbye. Most people just never post and you wonder what happened to them. Sorry to see you go though. Best of luck in your career!

You can never go wrong when you follow your heart. I was in 3 differen majors before I found nursing. More days than not I feel I've found where I was ment to be. Good luck in your new path. Have fun with the kids!!!
Thanks everyone! You are all so wonderful and will make excellent nurses!!!
Now I am convinced somthing must be wrong with me
I was all set to go to another school and get my degree in teaching, completely convinced that I was over wanting to be a nurse. At the last second, I cancelled my enrollment and instead registered for A & P 1 at community college for the spring. I couldn't do it! I can't give it up!! What does this mean???
Do I want to pursue nursing more than I thought cause it's kind of seeming that way...
So I guess I'm back :chuckle

Hey there... it's normal to second guess your thoughts and goals... you really only get one chance at it. Gotta think to yourself. What would you regret more?? Trying and realizing it's not for you? Or not trying at all and then wonder for the rest of your life if you made the right decision?
Take each day one at a time. Your destiny will map out with the choices you made. It's possible that it's still in your heart.... Have you read "Chicken Soup for the Nurses soul??" If not, I highly recommend it. It's a good book, full of touching stories by nurses and people affected by them. It's very influential.... after reading it, I realized I wanted to be one of those people, quite badly.
**Hugs** and I am glad you are back. I need as many people around me for support as I can get.

lol omg you sound as confused as i feel. i really want to be a nurse but i am sooo scared about switching careers. i was supossed to be a dental hygienist and i just changed my major to nursing. i feel like i might regret it if i dont do good in nursing, and at the same time i feel like a quitter (gosh and i havent even started yet lol) if i dont at least try to make it. well, all i can do is hope for the best.
good luck to you in whatever you decide to do.

Is this destiny? My CC is no longer offering their part time evening program. The program is now full time day only. I can't do that b/c I have to work (the fam is on my benefits). There's another cc in the next state over that has an evening/weekend program but the tuition is 3x as much and super competitive.... Maybe it's a sign?
