Psh, like that's difficult.

I never trust kids who come into my office saying complaining of having an ailment for 24 hours. I always ask, "well what did your parents say?" "Go see the nurse".

Unless a parent gives a teacher a note or gives a call I just don't believe them.

This is especially fun when the student arrives directly from the bus. I ask them "Do you think mom/dad meant you should come here right away? Or do you think they wanted you to give it a go?"

Then I hear "They told me to call" Sometimes I let them call (rules are they can call but they HAVE to say "I don't have a fever" and they cannot say "I want to go home" or "come pick me up" or anything that means those words) or sometimes I will call and very pointedly say "Little Johnny came in not feeling well. He has no fever and no debilitating symptoms, but he said you requested that I call if he came in." Puts the ball in the parents' court.

This is true... I think we've discussed it all here... from "public lice" to bedazzled lady parts.

The most interesting part about this is that I believe those were the same thread...

My Mom was a nurse, and usually working or going to class, so my Grandma or Dad could always be counted on to call me in "sick". Terrible role models! :sneaky:
