Hello:

Please I need help, I got my BSN degree 4 years ago, and sat for the board two years later and passed (took so long because of immigration situation I was facing). Anyway because of this immigration issue the board still have not release my license, I have a lawyer working on the case for me.

But in the mean time I have not been able to work with my degree, I have looked and most of the Jobs for a BSN require RN license, is there a job out there that will suite a BSN who does not have her RN license but have passed the board. Any suggestion please, I need to feed my family. Its been four years now.

Thank you.

You can probably only work as a CNA or Nurse Tech.

If u are legally eligible to work in US, u may be able to find a job but not as an RN. There could be some facilities they will hire u as a Nurse assistant . Unlike CNAs you will be paid little more and u will basically be helping nurses in their work....

Did u try to apply for licensure by endorsement in some other state? If your primary BON just verifies that you passed the NCLEX-RN your new state will issue a license unless there is something serious.

thank you, I never thought about the endorsement by another state, I will look into it. Yes I have my green card, yes I know I should be able to work as a CNA, but I was thinking with having a bachelor's degree I should be able to find other positions that will pay alot hire. I was doing the CNA while I was in school, I did not think I will have to be doing that again.

If there are issues with immigration, do not try to circumvent the issue, it can cause you great issues down the line. And even cancellation of your status in the US. This is not something to try to go around, it will follow you and can cause you much more grief.

thank you Suzzane, I agree with you, I am trusting God on seeing me through instead of going around it, I will rather face it and deal with it, in the mean time I am legally in this country and have a degree in nursing. So I need to know what type of employment I can get till the License come.

P.S. I will like to email you privately, how do you do that on this board.

Thanks.

good luck, hope you get sorted soon

Why is the BON not willing to issue a license? You have a degree. Passed the NCLEX. Have a GC. What's missing?

Specializes in Oncology/Haemetology/HIV.

You may be IN the country legally but are you legally permitted to work here?

Doesn't a greencard automatically give you permission to work in the US?????

A green card gives you permission to work in the US, but if a BON will not issue a license because of something to do with immigration, then that needs to be sorted out.
