BSN program @ UFV September 2014 Intake

I have just completed my application for the BSN program at UFV for the September 2014 Intake. I thought I would start this thread for anyone wanting to share their thoughts, ask some questions etc. The deadline is fast approaching! As far as I know interviews take place in March and decisions usually are done in May. I have a sister who is in fourth semester at UFV and is loving it! She found this site very helpful while going through the application process as it tends to be a long one!

So I just spoke with both mrs M and N at the nursing program. I got this horrible email today from Mrs. M saying that my English prerequisite was not completed! I almost fell over. Call them up and they said that I had to notify them when the prerequisites are done. That they do not automatically do this even though I did my English at ufv. So my application will now be review an I will be contacted sometime next week! So I apologized profusely and thanked them non stop. So yea I had a rough day :-/ but thankful to still be in consideraation.

Wow, I'm glad you got that sorted out SiLPN! It sound like you have a really good shot at the LPN access, so it would have sucked to have that mix up stop you.

On another note, does anybody feel like sharing the questions on the essay? :) Pretty please?

Hey so I just got a couple of emails! I got an invite for the info session on the 26th! And they asked me to book an interview appointment. Like my heart just skipped a couple of beats when I saw the emails. Phew that's takes some of the stress off! But it's not over yet. :-)

Hello everyone,

I've been trying to stay away from the discussion by keeping myself busy so I wouldn't lose my sanity from waiting to hear back from school every minute of it's office hours! I partly succeeded because I was able to keep myself away from the discussion but I was pretty crazy to begin with. Haha.

I am so happy for all of you that got the invitations to the information sessions and interviews but I am so sorry for the ones that haven't. My advices from my last year's experience are, do not be too disappointed or beat yourself as this is not the end of the world and you had no control over applicant selection process, but instead gain more volunteer hours and upgrade your GPA for the next intake.

I, myself, have also received emails to attend the information session on Wednesday, March 26th and to book my interview. I have received a notification in my personal email account saying that "Important messages have been sent to your UFV student email account". I actually had palpitations when I saw that message and my pulse was tachycardic at 140bpm. I have to work six of 12hr shifts in a row to attend the info session but I'm so thankful to be given the opportunity this year! @SilLPN, I am a LPN and I've applied into BSN bridging program. I am so glad to hear that you were able to find and fix the error in your application. I look forward to meeting you on Wednesday night!

I know that everyone feels as much excited and nervous as I am, but we should retrain ourselves from asking each others for examples of questions to be asked at the informstion sessions. You never know who is reading this discussion and you sure wouldn't want to get into any trouble that may affect your acceptance into the program. But thank you @sunyy for the information.

bkimm88 did you receive an email to book your interview the same day as your invitation to the orientation?

I received both emails on the same day, ten minutes apart. What BSN route have you applied to? Have you also received your invitation to the information session?

I applied to just the regular BSN 4 year program - fall intake. I received my invitation to the information session for this coming tuesday (25th) but have not yet received an interview time. Is that normal or abnormal?

@gingersnips,

Maybe the interview email never made it to your account? You should contact health science tomorrow to clarify that. From my understanding from previous intakes , UFV will email applicants regarding interview and ask them to book a date. It's always better to be safe than sorry! :)

Gingersnips, every year seems to be different than the last in terms of information sessions. Last year, everyone who was a complete applicant was able to go to the information session and got an invite to it, but it didn't guarantee an interview. Last semester (January 2014), not every complete applicant got an invite unless they were considered. At the information session yesterday, I was told that every person at these information sessions are getting an interview and will be considered for the program. So with that being said, you're probably going to get an email soon to book an interview :). Let us know if u do
