Broward College Nursing Program January 2017

Published

Hello to all the future Applicants for the January 17' nursing program. I know it's really early and August admission process hasn't been completed yet but I couldn't help my self. I'm so anxious to get in the program it took me a long time to get to this point. I have completed all the pre reqs that have an affect on your gpa and I have a 3.0. I recently just passed the Hesi for the second try with a 76% in anatomy, 92% in math and 80% in the other 3 sections. I'm in MGF1106 right now grades will post early Aug. so I'm going to turn in the Application right after that. I hope this forum can be used for all us to get through this waiting process together.

Congratulations to those who got accepted to the Jan. 2017 program. I graduated from Broward college and I can tell you it's not an easy road, but it's doable. Many students retrack on the first 2 class due to failing math or return demo. I suggest if that happens just continue and retract on the next semester. I have seen a lot of students get discourage after failing and completely drop out of the program. Majorirty of us who graduated from BC have retrack at least one class. some students even went to LPN school and came back to BC after failing 2 classes. Goodluck everyone.

Yes, most students do retrack at least once during the program.

Congratulations on a job well done! What campus did you attend?

In the broward college website says that the passing rate is 39% so if you think about it that's is the reason the Boards grades are so high bevsuse only the really good ones are the ones that get to take it... not saying that BC is impossible but also not just any school..

The completion rate is 55%, not 39%. Our pass rates on the boards are 96.1%. Higher than any other school in the area including the private schools.

The only way you take the boards is if you graduate from the RN program. So saying only the good ones take it, yes only the graduates take it. BC nurses are some of the best in the industry. The program is tough and many students drop out the first semester because they don't put in enough time, decide nursing is not for them, etc. I have heard it all. 99% of the time students leave the program it is on the student; not the faculty or the program.

If you are so anti-BC, why are you on the boards for the school? These students know there are other nursing programs out there yet they choose to compete for a seat in BCs program.

For all of my incoming May 2017 applicants, good luck!

Merry Christmas!

Nichole

I was just saying my opinion, and I'm not anti BC I do believe that the school offers a good program that offers good opportunities. All I was trying to say is that it is not a walk in the park so students should be ready and don't think it is going to be easy. But yeah if you give your 100% of time and dedication you will pass I couldn't do that because of personal reasons that is why I had to drop the program. About the passing rate I said what I saw the last time I checked the website but if you go back today it does say 55% so I guess it increased.

Nichole,

If I were to add a course outside the required nursing courses, would that mess anything up? I need to take a humanities course and the class I'm looking to take only has a few seats left. I'm just worried that I will be dropped from my nursing courses!

One week before we start and I still haven't received my check to pay for the nursing school book package. Does anyone know if it's okay for me to just bring the required books for the first week only (along with the other required supplies)?

You just need to go to the bookstore and pickup the books on your Financial Aid. The bookstore re-opens tomorrow.

Nursing Instructor and Student Orientation - Broward Health

I have not completed Broward Health as yet. Holy cross on the other hand is completed. I would recommend a day that you are not busy to do this. Holy Cross had a lot of modules to complete.

I am sure all of us are still waiting on the instructors to post their Syllabus in D2L.

I guess we will see them some time throughout the day today.

Counting down to the beginning of first class.

Hello to all the future nurses that started just a few weeks ago. How has the first couple of weeks been so far? ls there anything that you can tell the students who are applying for May 2017. thank you and good luck

Hey Nichole -

I just have a quick question. I went to another for-profit college and started the nursing program, took Fundamentals and the school and nursing program ended up closing and ended up being pretty bad for students, so I left the school. I am just wondering if that will be held against me when I apply to Broward. I have a 3.7 gpa with the nursing pre-reqs, I just don't want this other school to get in my way (more than it has already!)

thank you!

Hi guys ! I'm almost done with my pre-reqs... now taking a&p 2 and registering for microbiology soon for the summer term... I'm so scared of the HESI... any advise or tips on what you guys did and how the test is??? I really want to get into the August program ... I just need to pass that HESI which is already giving me terrible anxiety since I'm sooo terrible at math 😩 HELP! Thank you soooo much guys!
