Broward College Nursing Program January 2017
Congratulations to those who got accepted to the Jan. 2017 program. I graduated from Broward college and I can tell you it's not an easy road, but it's doable. Many students retrack on the first 2 class due to failing math or return demo. I suggest if that happens just continue and retract on the next semester. I have seen a lot of students get discourage after failing and completely drop out of the program. Majorirty of us who graduated from BC have retrack at least one class. some students even went to LPN school and came back to BC after failing 2 classes. Goodluck everyone.

For the books, fundamentals you only use for both process 1 and 2. The little Jarvis book and the clinical book can be a good source for the entire program when you need to learn the clinical skills and physical assessment. The Cox clinical diagnosis and drug guide you can use for the entire program. I never bought the dosage and calculation book, and I passed all my math test on the first try. Not sure about Pharm, we never use the book before, and we all passed the class. For process 1, you need to do an assessment, so you need stethoscope and pen light. They want you to buy the blue bag, but you do not need it until process 2.

hello everyone. Could anyone pleased show me the proper way to calculate this problem? Thank you in advance. If the dosage regimen for bleomycin sulfate is 0.25 to 0.50 units/kg IM, what is the minimum dosage for a patient weighing 145 lb?_______ I converted 145 lb to kg : 65.9 kg 0.25 units/kg= x/65.9 kg x=16.5 0.5 units/kg = x/65.9 kg x=33 The physician orders packed red cells, 2 units, to be given over 6 hours (250 mL/unit). The drop factor is 10 gtt/mL. Drop rate/min? ___________ 250 ml/hrx10 gtt/mL 60(6) 250/36 = 7 gtt/min (2) = 14 gtt/min [TABLE=class: MsoNormalTable] [TR] [TD] One L of D5W contains 10,000 units heparin sodium. Dosage and calculation help
I am practicing my dosage and calculation for the upcoming term. I am having a hard time figuring out the correct answer for the following questions: I would like to know the solutions for this one. Thank you in advance If the dosage regimen for b. sulfate is 0.25 to 0.50 units/kg IM, what is the minimum dosage for a patient weighing 145 lb?_______ I converted the lbs to kg which is 65.9 kg. I calculated 0.25 units cross multiply and come up with 16.5. The physician orders packed red cells, 2 units, to be given over 6 hours (250 mL/unit). The drop factor is 10 gtt/mL. Drop rate/min? ___________ 250 mL/unit x 10 gtt/mL/60 min = 7 gtt/min 7 gtt/min x 2 units = 14 gtt/min? One L of D5W contains 10,000 units heparin sodium. An order reads, "500 units/hr IV." The drop factor is 60 gtt/mL. What is the drop rate/min? ___________ For this problem i am confused I keep getting 500 as my answer which is too high. anyone have an idea on how to calculate this problem?

MDC Nursing program Fall 2012
not yet. I am planning to take it next month. I heard the 5 teas practice test is very helpful for the science TEAS? My science gpa is around 2.9 (got a c in anatomy) and overall college gpa is 3.4.

MDC Nursing program Fall 2012
I will be applying for the accelerated and generic option. I am a little anxious, my science GPA is not that good. I graduated from University of California and most of our science professors are very tough. My chances of getting admitted maybe not to high . Goodluck to everyone!!!

Low GPA? Is there hope??? YES! Read this! Possibilities attached!
I am on similar situation. I started as biological science major from University of california and most of my science class is either B or C. I realiaze that if I want to graduate with decent gpa I need to switch to something I am good at and that's accounting. I graduated with decent gpa 3.3 but when applying to nursing program I notice that they only take the prerequisite gpa. I believed I have 2.75 gpa on 3 core prequisite (anatomy, physiology and microbiology).

Non-nursing degree (low GPA/stats) to accelerated BSN program?
I feel the same way. I got my degree from University of California and most of our science professors are tough in grading. I did not fail any class but got mostly B's and C in my anatomy. I switched to accounting graduated with 3.4 gpa. I was planning to send my application to University of Miami but was told that most people who got accepted have close to 4.0 GPA . I am interested to know if anyone got accepted on any of the program with not so high gpa.
