Hello!
I just wanted to make a thread for nursing program at BC for this coming Fall semester.
I passed the Hesi last week after 4 days of studying. (Got tired of studying the Elvesier book so I took my chances)
My overall score: 85%. My lowest score's reading: 78% ( English is my second language and I took this section last so didn't have enough time to really read the questions)
I turned in my application last Wednesday. The lady said to look for an email around May- June.
Anyone is applying for Fall? Did your status on myBC change yet?
Ms Melanie at north will expect you to do the first 8 chapters, which is just a basic math review, and she will go over the whole book in class. honestly, i rented the book and never used it. Just do the math worksheets and brush up on doing the math without the calculator, because they'll expect you to show your work during tests even with the use of a calculator
Hi everyone,
Last week was my first week of process 1 at broward college and my anxiety is already crazy lol. I'm just wondering if anyone has any study advice. I've been reading all of the chapters and making notes by following the module. I'm wondering if this is enough though? What else can I do to succeed and retain the info. We are flying through chapters so fast. Also should we stick to remembering concepts or memorization or both? What are the test like? So many questions.any advice would be appreciated. My main concern is that everything is so extremely fast paced so worried that I might not retain the info or might not learn every single thing in every chapter and that could hinder me on the exam. Thanks!
Hello fellow nursing student , last week was my first week as well trying not to be overwhelmed by all the reading for all the classes . And following the modules is a great way of studying but I would suggest implementing doing nclex style questions after reading your chapters to see if your retaining any of the info your reading and not just memorizing . And I would stick with knowing the concepts instead of just memorizing because that could help you answer multiple questions by understanding a concept & not just memorizing a certain word idk if that makes sense . And as far as the test I know there all like nclex style questions because they are preparing us to take the nclex exam to obtain the RN license . So the questions are like scenario base like "the nurse noticed the nursing student was taking a blood pressure of a patient and was deflating the cuff slowly to get a accurate reading which of the following tells you the nursing student did something wrong" (I can't really remember the question word for word loll sorry but this question was a question they asked at the end of the chapter for vital signs and the answer was the one with the highest diastolic because deflating a BP cuff too slow can result in a high diastolic which would not be accurate but basically all in all understand the material and do practice questions that's what I'm doing but everyone is different I can't tell you what to do whatever you feel is helping you go for it . Ohh and try to read before class or at least read the PowerPoint to get an idea of what our teacher is going to talk about .
anything memorization based ( lab values, definitions, etc) put on flashcards.
Form a small study group, but only use it to clarify and deepen your understanding of concepts. You should have a schedule & already know the material, but go over any material you are unclear about.
speak up in class. Someone else more than likely has the same question as you do, but doesn't want to ask it.
utilize Evolve Elsevier online resources. There are case studies, application-style questions on there.
make up crazy or personally significant mnemonics when grouping signs/symptoms together
do a few NCLEX style questions everyday that relates to what topic you are studying.
read ahead. if you start to realize you aren't retaining any information, take a break for a few minutes & go back to it.
Barnes and Noble. Grab some NCLEX books, or made-easy type books & read those topics you don't understand. free way to get information. Same thing with the library.
Look over your notes EVERYDAY. Even a quick glance will help you retain it in the long run.
if you've done the readings, the lectures will clarify things. If they continually repeat something, chances are it is important.
Hello, is the first math test similar to workbook A that she has us complete? She said that she pulls all the questions on the test from the book so Im debating if just knowing how to do workbook A will be enough to pass the test? It's so hard to find the time to fully complete this dosage book and read every thing in it. I'm really hoping the test is similar to the workbook. Thank you

On D2L it only shows me the nursing process one stuff. There's nothing on math or pharm yet. I just read to start reading on vitals.
