Broward College Nursing Program August 2016

U.S.A. Florida

Updated:   Published

Hello!

I just wanted to make a thread for nursing program at BC for this coming Fall semester.

I passed the Hesi last week after 4 days of studying. (Got tired of studying the Elvesier book so I took my chances)

My overall score: 85%. My lowest score's reading: 78% ( English is my second language and I took this section last so didn't have enough time to really read the questions)

I turned in my application last Wednesday. The lady said to look for an email around May- June.

Anyone is applying for Fall? Did your status on myBC change yet?

I'm applying. That's really great that you're ahead of schedule. I'm still waiting to finish my Mac1105 at the beginning of March so I can register and I'm taking the HESI soon. How was the math portion btw? That's my main worry, all the other parts shouldn't be too difficult hopefully.

The math portion was pretty easy. It's a lot of ratio for sure. Review the Elvesier book will definitely help and make sure to know your conversion. The anatomy and vocabulary were 70% based on the info from the review book...(I used quizlet to study also).

My application just updated and its in review process. I got awarded 9 points, very disappointed:(. Just hope that I will get in. Good luck to you!!! Try to get an A for Math class!!!

Hi! I am also planning on starting in August 2016. I am currently taking Micro with Lab and math so I can't apply until my math class ends. I still need to take the HESI so I'm hoping to take that soon to get it out of the way. I hope I still can make it in !

Want to wish you all gl! I'm in process 1 now. Just passed demo today and retaking math on Thursday. Advice to you all: get your perry and potter book and start reading now. The first process test is 16 chapters and the test is no joke. No more memorize info and spit it back out. Say goodbye to cramming those days are long gone. I scored a 90 on exam 1 but I started studying a few weeks after orientation. It helped a lot. Math: get the dosage calculations book and start practicing bc the test is tricky. You can only get one wrong. Hope this helps you newcomers. Get a careplan book and start learning how to write one. Brace yourselves bc you will study more in the first 4 weeks then you have ever in your entire life. I don't want to scare you all but I'm trying to prepare you guys. I wish someone would have given me this advice before I started.

@Ashley1186 thank you so much for the advice. I will stop by the bookstore to get those books and start reading them now. How is your schedule like with school? I am trying to work extra hours now to save money. When school starts, I don't know how many days I will be able to work :(. No family, no helps from anyone so I will def need to take out student loans for school.

My suggestion is to not work in this program. The people who are working failed the first test and they are only working part time. I don't work and I still feel like I don't have enough hours in the day. Schedule depends on ur class time for for lecture and also for math. I go monday 8 to 715 on Monday bc I go to the lab before my lecture at 1. Tues is 730 to 7. We'd I have off but I go to the library to study all day. Thursday i go 8 to 5 bc I go to lab before math at 1. Friday I go 8 to 4 bc I go to the lab before lecture. Saturday and Sunday I meet with my group to study which is usually about 10 to 12 hours each day. So it's crazy. Form a group before you start. I met people on here and we started studying before classes started. If you see people only want to gossip n talk and not study drop them right away and get a new group. Don't study with more than 4 people max.

Also once you get accepted go to workforce one and talk to them bc they will give you up to 10k if you qualify. Go to financial aid and ask them about nursing scholarships bc they will tell you how to apply for them and at orientation they will go over that and they will have financial there to discuss it with you guys. Most of you will get in the program. They took 230 people and I think it was 12 alternates and a lot of the alternates got in. I think the lowest gpa that got in for us was 2.7 gpa and they didn't look at hesi scores until it was between the people with the low gpas. If you have above a 3.0 you will most likely get in. I'm not guaranteeing anything but that was at least true for our group.
