Hi everyone I didn't see one made yet so I guess this will be the official thread for BC May 2015!
north campus:
Hey guys!!! Im so happy to be able to write on this thread again. It has been a tough 2 months let me tell ya. So I wanted to start off saying NOT TO LISTEN TO HORROR STORIES, please!!!! By no means is this an easy program, BUT if you put the time and effort and dedicate yourself to do your best then you will do perfectly fine. I was terrified to start because of all the stories I would hear, and theyre not true. The professors are there to help you, you have all the help in the world. Trust me. If math isnt your strongest subject, they have tutors available in the lab! Its up to you whether or not you go seek this help. The exams are not hard, the questions are easy but the answer choices are not like previous exams for other classes. It is more like...all these are right, but which one is the best answer...If you read, and pay attention to class, there is no reason why you cant pass. I was very nervous for return demo, but guess what...if you mess up on a certain skill, they give you a second chance to come back and re-do that ONE skill you did wrong. Theyre not trying to fail you, I feel like a lot of people who talk smack about the program are people who are not putting in the effort to get through the program. Also, these are not the same people who failed the math for example, I know some people have that are very bright and didnt pass the math exam, but I know they will get up and try it again with all they have. But at least theyre trying.....some people talk so much crap about the program to the point where people are scared to death, and honestly its not that bad. I gave my first injection, hung my first IV, and gave three pills 2 days ago in front of my instructor. She made sure to go over the procedures before I walked in the room, needless to say..I felt prepared and confident. I loved it. So far, I have only used the Perry & Potter (havent touched the clinical perry and potter because most procedures are also IN the regular perry and potter book), the cox book, the drug book (process2)...and I think thats it..of course along with my professors lectures. I bought the pharmacology book and have not opened it once.....Honestly, his tests are based on only his lectures.....but if you feel like you need to read to reinforce what youre learning then rent it/buy it. The math book was only opened once. And that was to work some problems out. Honestly, she didnt even check it. The only thing she checks is "workbook A" work which will be posted online, and you can print it. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW WILL BE TAUGHT BY HER. For your first math test, and the math test for process 2, they will provide you with a formula sheet. all you need to know is WHAT theyre asking you. That's it. AND! you can use a calculator (you will need to buy a cheap SHARP calculator, they sell these at the bookstore, they will not allow you to use another calculator, dont ask...she will get annoyed).
My schedule for the first part of the semester was Monday: lecture 8:30-12:30, then pharmacology 5:15-8, Tuesday: Clinical (usually from 6:30 am to 5ish), wednesday:off, thursday: off, friday: lecture 8:30-12:30, math: 1- 4ish (for the first 4 weeks or so and then the final test and it was over)...process 2: monday lecture 8:30-12:30, pharmacology 5:15-8, wednesday off, thursday off, friday lecture 8:30-12:30. So yeah.....if you guys have any questions just ask me and I will try to respond as soon as I get a chance :)
ALSO!!!
for north ONLY,
I bought nursing shoes, theyre expensive but super comfortable. They did let people wear athletic shoes...AS LONG as theyre ALL white and leather, and have no mesh or other openings. Prof. Fola was the only instructor that will let you record (and as far as I know, probably the only one in the program), I dont know about prof. Kali [some people record with their phones]. I bought a recorder and recorded her lectures. If you have Ms. Fola, you will love her. Shes funny. Hair up for clinicals, including lab days.

Oh gigglybaby... Thank you so much. For someone starting at North in a month..those are such comforting words I needed to hear. The horror stories are pretty bad..but I know these aren't all what they seem. I am so anxious..but truly excited to start. Congrats on all your success! Sounds like such a blast. :) & math of course is giving me a bit of anxiety...but I will remain confident and try my best. So glad to hear there are tutors as well! Good luck on your continued success.

I haven't seen resentment, hostility. ..it's not worth giving up or blaming the school. It's simply due to 2 missed problems. ..pick your self up and try again. That's all I said :)
