Broward College Nursing May 2015

Published

Hi everyone I didn't see one made yet so I guess this will be the official thread for BC May 2015!

Hey dolfanjenny, Im going to South Campus in the fall!! How is it going for you? hope all is well..

Can you please send me the email that dolfanjenny sent you ? I am also going to be attending south campus in august [email protected] ..... thank you :)

Hey Acitrone!!!!! How are you? I just sent you an email ok. rene_Astorga I sent it to you too. Good luck ladies!!!

ALSO!!!

for north ONLY,

I bought nursing shoes, theyre expensive but super comfortable. They did let people wear athletic shoes...AS LONG as theyre ALL white and leather, and have no mesh or other openings. Prof. Fola was the only instructor that will let you record (and as far as I know, probably the only one in the program), I dont know about prof. Kali [some people record with their phones]. I bought a recorder and recorded her lectures. If you have Ms. Fola, you will love her. Shes funny. Hair up for clinicals, including lab days.

Hey gigglybaby, where did you buy your nursing shoes from? And did you ever purchase a tote?

Anyone know anything about the nursing lab supply kit?

Yes for south you have to buy it from the bookstore (which is the only place you can get it anyway) your not going to use it till process 2 HOWEVER they are going to check fo the receipt in process 1 so make a copy and take original cause they take the copy to put in your chart. It's full of all types of stuff. IV bags & lines and kits stuff like that. You'll be needing it to practice your skills at home for sure!!!

Thank you Jenny for yhe email. I will be attending North campus..but your info does mean a lot. :)

Hi, is your schedule for the RN program or the RN-BSN? I did the RN program at Broward when it was Broward Community College and it was tough then, can't imagine how it would be now.

I'm hoping to start the RN-BSN program but if I have to have long clinicals like we did in the RN program, I don't know how I'll be able to do it again. *sigh*

The schedule gaby posted is for the traditional RN program. Hi guys! Sorry I've been a bit ghost. But starting your first semester over the summer is NO JOKE so I had to buckle down. Happy to say that I passed both process I and process II as I finished my last clinical today and received my final grade that I took this Monday that passed. It's honestly the most nerve wrecking time waiting for your test grade I literally burst into tears upon seeing that I passed. The process II final exam was one of the hardest tests I've taken out of the 6 I've taken in total for lecture in the program thus far. BUT they say if you can make it through process I and II during the summer, you can make it through the entire program. So I'm slowly finding a bit of refuge in that I've made it through my first hurdle. Guys. When I say establish a study routine EARLY? Do it. You need to bring your A game. You will see a dramatic drop in your classmates after the 1st/2nd test that will scare you, but that means that there's no games. For process two after failing the first test I decided enough was enough, and deleted all of my social networks off of my phone to limit my distractions and increase my study time. It's hard since this generation is the social media frenzy generation but I honestly learned to be without it slowly. It helped increase my productivity tremendously. If you guys have any more questions I'll try to check here more often from now Til the 24th to help ease any concerns. But a lot of what gaby said is true, the faculty is extremely helpful it's YOU that has to put the hard work and ethic into it. Thankfully, I'll be able to enjoy a nice break with a clear mind knowing I passed before I have to start reading ahead for GI/GU. I'm over the moon. It's hard work but so rewarding to know you can do it.

All good advice. I started the nursing program at BC with 90 students and about 60 passed.
