Broward College Nursing January 2016

Published

Hey everyone, I'm applying to the nursing program for January 2016 at Broward College. I guess this will be the official thread for the January 2016, Broward college nursing students; since no one has made one yet. Who else is applying for this term and what courses do you have remaining to finish pre reqs? I'm currently enrolled in A&P 2 lecture and lab and also a math class which are the last two courses I need to apply. I finish the classes in August yayyy :)

Good luck :)

OSHA is only 1 hr. I've been an LPN for many years and osha is 1 hr.

Why does BC required 2 then. That's so confusing 😭

Thank you so much, I will definitely look into that. Btw, first time I try using the "quote" tool. Hopefully I did it right, lol!

Chini0330 I called South on Thursday and no one answered so I decide to leave a voice mail. They returned my call the next day and one of the questions I had was about the "1 hr for OSHA". I was told not to take osha and instead take "infection control and barrier precautions" which is 4 hrs instead.

So take 4 hour of infection control and barrier precautions instead of 1 hr OSHA?

Yup, I will do just as I was told.

Infection control isn't even on the list of required ceu's for the school. Well it's not on south campus list. If they say take osha then just take Osha.

What did the rest of you guys do with the 1hr OSHA?

JUST DO THE 1hr osha. BC KNOWS DAMN WELL THERE IS NO 2 HR osha. Every years students get confused. Ugh

Loll agree!!

Hey I am going to the md now this weekend but I see it says students statements are not considered proof of immunity but if Igo and get records showing that I have had some of there vaccination for like chicken pox rubella or rubeola. Is that enough to not have to get the titer

My doctor told me that I had to get the titer anyways to have proof of my immunity so I did the titer test and whatever came back as ok I was fine but I needed one vaccine that I wasn't immune to anymore that's how they check to make sure so I do believe you need it. And you have to have a copy of all the lab results.

You need to titers even if you have proof that you had the vaccine. Some peoples bodies actually lose immunity and you may need a booster. Just do the titers its not a big deal and you will need that proof even after nursing school (When I was shadowing in the hospital I had to have proof of varicella immunity etc and I wasn't even a paid employee).
