Broward College Nursing January 2016

Published

Hey everyone, I'm applying to the nursing program for January 2016 at Broward College. I guess this will be the official thread for the January 2016, Broward college nursing students; since no one has made one yet. Who else is applying for this term and what courses do you have remaining to finish pre reqs? I'm currently enrolled in A&P 2 lecture and lab and also a math class which are the last two courses I need to apply. I finish the classes in August yayyy :)

Good luck :)

Closed Water bottles permitted?

I would like that

Yes, closed water bottles are permitted. Please make sure you take them with you when you leave the preadmissions meeting.

Reminders for Friday's pre-admissions meeting:

*No open food or drink allowed in the auditorium. Closed water bottles are allowed. Please make sure to take them with you when you leave.

*Bring a pen (Blue or Black ONLY. No colored pens and no pencil.)

*Be ON TIME! Building 22 faces Davie Road and is where all the cop cars are parked.

You will have clinicals 1 day a week. At the beginning of every semester you will have two days of on-campus lab the first week. I go to north campus and our clinical days were usually on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Saturday's. You will only have to go on one of these days per week, & it changes every semester. Some professors allow you to choose your preferred day and side of the county ( I.e, east or west) based on where you live, while others just assign it for you and simply tell you where you are going and when. Your hospital changes each semester as well. [At north campus] I have been to Holy Cross, Florida Medical Center, University, Northwest, Coral Springs, and Plantation General. I know South campus utilizes the Memorial hospitals, as they are closer to that area.

Process I is a little different, with more on campus lab days to help get you prepared to enter the hospital. You will have very long weeks when you first enter the program, with 10 hour days back-to-back sometimes but it is done to help prepare you. Just come with an open mind and be ready to learn. I forgot to mention hospital clinical days are from 6:30 am - 6:30 pm.

Than you so much smilecuzimhappy for the information it was really detailed and exactly what I was looking for. I live for you nursings students that look back at these conversations and answer the questions. :inlove:

Hello everyone! I'm new to this thread, I will be attending orientation on Oct 16 at 1pm. I want to wish all of us good luck on our upcoming 2016 nursing program.

Welcome Nathy0686 Thank you for the Good luck wishes. We will all help each other out as much as possible. I am so excited

Thank you Melanie! You are right on point, we all need to support each other. Now we will be like a huge Nursing family.

who has orientation @9am on friday?

I do!!!! How exciting! If we have the earlier orientation time - do we have a better chance of getting into the campus that we want?

No, you do not choose your campus at orientation. They will give you a date and time when you will have to log in yourself at home and do it. It opens up at the same time for everyone.
