So, I received the first email from South Campus today in regards to the schedule... but Im waiting on Central's. Im a little peeved that they don't make Micro a pre requisite.... I haven't taken Micro yet and plan on doing so in the semester that we have a break even though we were discouraged not to at the pre admission meeting. I can't put nursing school off until May.... it's now or never for me because I will have too much going on if I wait. On another note, does anyone know what hospitals Central students rotate at????

Honestly, if you had a choice to defer for May I would but you know what you are capable of doing/handling. It was hard for myself and majority of the class. I took Micro lecture and lab in the six week course this past summer and it was hard, I'm not going to lie. We had to do two papers, a test every week plus assignments and extra credit which you want to do because a lot of people didn't get good grades on their tests. However, by this time you will probably be disciplined with your studying habits so you may be able to handle it. During the summer you will attend both classes monday-thursday. Take a chance and go for it, what do you have to lose! Good Luck!

I took the Infection Control and Barrier Precaution course. I read on a previous thread (August 2011) and thats what they did. I'm hoping it will be accepted, but I am going to ask as soon as we get the email from North campus as that is the campus I plan on attending.

Bests!

I just received a reply from admissions and she said she's not sure if all campuses accept ceufast. As far as making up the hour, she said to do the one hour bloodborne pathogens. She gave me the contact info to verify if they accept ceufast, so I will give them a call tomorrow.

So, we just received the email from North campus! I am excited and scared all at the same time! I dont know if I am going to quit my job or not....What do you guys think?

I personally think that you should quit your job. At orientation they kept stressing that students shouldn't keep a job while in nursing. However, if you know that you are a fast learner and you understand the material right away then you can possibly pull it off. My friend that was previously in the program said that there was no way she could work and be in nursing school, you spend at least 80 hours a week doing nursing, between school, studying and practicing your skills, there really is no time for yourself let a lone a job.

Did anyone receive there central campus email yet? I only received south and north campus today..

I have a slight dilemma and would like some opinions. I have been accepted into the Generic nursing program at BC that starts this January, and I have also been accepted into Miami Dade's RN Bridge program that starts in January as well. Miami Dade's Bridge program will graduate in December 2012 and BC's program graduates August 2013. The amount of time that Miami Dade's program would save is very significant. The only problem I have is that I live in Plantation and Miami Dade Medical Campus is very very far. I have a 1 year old baby that I will be dropping off with a babysitter many times before going to class. So that makes the trip to Miami Dade more difficult. So far BC has been very organized with the start of this program. They also have always picked up the phone and helped me when I call. On the other hand, Miami Dade has been very unorganized, very rude over the phone, and very non-forthcoming with information over the phone. It always seems that only 1 person knows the answer to whatever question you have, and it's impossible to reach that person. I just don't know what decision to make. The convenience of BC being close to home is HUGE, but going to school 8 months less is HUGE too. But it will also be nice to have the 6 week break that BC provides. Miami Dade has no break whatsoever. Anyone have an opinion? Anyone here know or hear anything about Miami Dade's program? So far, the experience with the school has been horrible. I wonder if the experience with the nursing program would be just as horrible or worse.

From what I just read, you seem not to have any dilemma because you just answered to question to your question. Make two columns and weight out the pros and cons. Congrats and best of luck to your Nursing journey on the school that you decide to choose.

I'd go to BC hands down! I went to Miami Dade for pre reqs (wasted so much time)..and find BC very challenging, very organized etc. I think that the commute alone sux (I live in Plantation too)...being a mom is hard enough...I think the extra 8 months will be beneficial..BC nurses have better reputations....pray about it. Congrats either way your a success!

What hospitals do Central campus students do their clinicals at????
