Guys the HESI isn't that big of a deal and is not the scary part. If you have gotten this far relax! The HESI book was very good in my opinion. The math and vocabulary and grammar was exactly like that...everyone complains about the A & P I took HESI liek 5 years after I had taken A & P and I got in the 80's..its not that difficult. You can always retake any section you didn't do well in...people retook HESI like 3 times and got in the program. Just be sure about your campus. I hear North is the best and Central is the worse.

Hi guys. I think preadmission means you're pretty much accepted. No one knows how this program is set up as far as getting acepted etc. A lot of people will defer..as May is slightly accelerated...and many who have been waiting since January will be ahead of you for May. The nursing process is very hard...they have yous et up for quite a ride. Those with kids, jobs etc. will suffer immensely but it can be done. I failed the lecture part, passed clinicals and am finishing up pharm. I have 4 kids and do not work. Could I have passed-yes I could have if I had more time to myself to study...but I do not regret anything thus far...all things happen for a reason..and I am super ready and motivated for second time around as well as wiser. I will say though, I am unhappy about a few things about this program...but at the same time I feel they have their reasons and must know something we don't. Most friends I know that go to FAU, or other schools seem happier, and are more successful. BCC really does emphasize the discipline part..but at times there is unclarity-Central more so specifically. Again, I don't want to put out excuses...but I felt quite unaware a lot of times...maybe because I didn't have friends from the program to inform me as many of my peers seem to...also the juggling of my life, kids and the new hours-plus studying efficiently. Advice I would love to give you guys to be successful and ahead of the game: Your first exam sets the mood and score for the rest of the tests...you don't realize how important it is, because you are used to winging it at times in regular classes...you can't do that in program. If you fail the second time..just withdraw. You can only fail twice in entire program. The studying...you need to use the powerpoints/modules/your notes/practice tests, read ahead, stay on top of things...don't cram,exercise all of the concepts..its all about the tests! There are no extra points or assignments. Trust me the uniforms, shoes, books are the least of your worries. If you are getting the books-get all of them and get them on Amazon. Tell your friends, family now about what is to come...get rid of FB, partying, BF/GF now..because you will not have a life! My kids suffered, they had school problems, pottying problems, behavior problems...they tell you this at a meeting before your first test. Listent to what theya re telling you. You get stuck in the glory..."yeahh nursing program..yeah ID's and uniforms...yeahhh...but what is ahead is a compelte transformation and it entails how bad you want this and what you are willing to sacrifice for it. I bought 2 polos, 2 scrubs sets, white sneakers and the Elsevier box...still missing books and financial aid! I'm quite excited now...gonna use a tape recorder I think for lecture.

My financial aid isn't processed either..its been one thing after another for me....I passed micro with a C! Ugh..and happy to be done-I just want to relax and enjoy holidays...cause I can feel what's to come in January. I'm cutting my hair!

shoes u can get anywhere...not sure if I am going to buy white sneakers..or nursing shoes...I bought scrubs..but they had limited sizes and I couldn't get any polos my size;(...I haven't bought books, or other accessories...I bought a watch..lol..figured I'd need one.

I agree! My GPA wasn't high either ..and I say if you have the passion and faith-do it-don't listen to anyone! A or C-your gonna be a great nurse !

I hear the fcat error is a system problem..you may not have to worry too much about it.

I handed my papers yesterday as well-it was a whole day ordeal! I made like 5 trips to Kinko's because I kept forgetting something....anyway, glad that is over with! As far a books and uniforms go-I have no financial aid at this point..so I may have to pay out of pocket...and I am wondering since I have the exact same classes as my gf...is it necessary to buy books each or could we share it her and I?

what kind of folder are u using? prongs/rings/folds? This is a dumb question but what is the best presentation? Has anyone bought uniforms yet? We probably should before january. I am soooo stressed! Between these holidays, and the semester's finals all next week..plus notarizing and photocopying for nursing admissions....I'm gonna end up shaving my head bald already...and I haven't even started the nursing semester!

has anyone turned in their folders (physical/cert. etc) yet at central? What folders are you using? What about your 'portfolios?' P.S. Micro is kicking my butt!
