  1. Hmmm... being mad and acting self entitled are two entirely different things lol, and fyi- just because you say " no offense" doesn't make it any less offensive, its actually the opposite. Oh, and asking broward students if they are even "aware" that there are campuses closer to them? That's not insulting their intelligence at all, right? I know everything is going to be just peachy, for the students who don't whine and act like brats. Its the real world honey and no one gives a poo how much u have to drive. No one gets sympathy or special treatment so I suggest you start humbling yourself now. :)
  2. I'm actually offended for the people that do live by central and want to attend north. "No offense?" People have their own reasons for living further away and wanting to attend North. Do you actually think its fair that BC u decided to move out of the COUNTY that other students should sacrafice where their personal preference is? No "offense" but u can easily go to PBSC which is MUCH closer to you. Self entitled attitudes will get u NO where in this program except figuring out your next major. Just saying...
  3. Quick question, Can someone explain to me how clinicals work? Do we pick the hospital we want? Or does it go according to whatever section/instructor you have. Are the same 9 people that are in your section that you registered for all together in the hospital or do they split us up?
  4. They do not look down on u taking the hesi over! Take it as many times as u want and can. Also, please remember, they use the hesi as more of a tie breaker.. as well as all the other classes needed for your degree.. meaning if there is a tie between two people for a seat, they will look at not only your hesi score but also your prequistes like micro, psych etc. So the more u have done the better. I have my bachelors in psych from Nova, I had 12 points and everything done for the degree except micro and had around an 88% avg on hesi and I applied originally to the May class. I got in with my 12 points while many people with 12 points did not. So def take micro if you can before. I am also taking pharm at pbsc as a transient student to make life a little easier come January. And also, any term but May is a lot easier to get in since they take so many more students. Good luck everyone :)
  5. Cary, Some advice, when you retake it, its pretty much the same exact questions. So if you can remember all the questions they asked study that. ALSO- if you sign on to the website that gives you your test score (I think its elsiever- or something like that)- you can click on your test score and it will show you everything you got wrong (this will also help you remember the questions) and it will tell you the type of question it was, some study notes, and then you can go back in your book and do a little refresher. That website is extremely helpful. Good luck and let us know how you did! :)
  6. Thanks so much!!! :) You just need the pre-reqs and the hesi exam. Hesi you need to get a 75% or above in each section. Yes they go by a point system which is based on your grades in the Pre-reqs- NOT your overall GPA which a lot of people confuse. You also get 5 points if you did HOSA in HS and 1 point for being a Broward resident. When you submit your application you will see how many points you received on your limited application status . What classes do you have left? And lots of luck! :)
  7. Hey everyone! This is a thread for anyone applying for the January 2012 class at Broward college for the generic nursing track. July 16th was the date to start applying and I believe it closes sometime in October. How many points does everyone have? I had to defer my seat so I will be starting in January for sure at north campus! if I can be of any help with questions pertaining to getting in or the HESI I will be glad to help! Good luck everyone!!
  8. Yep... Also with the way the schedules seem to work...looks like its gonna be extremely difficult to work with any kind of constistency since the classes are in in the middle of the day. Process is mon &fri from 9-12 (i think) and then the math or pharm (i forgot which 1) is monday from 5-7. And then obviously our clinical days we are going to be exhausted since its from 630-2 and then we will have to study....Its gonna be quite a lifestyle change trying to get in the groove and find what works for us... Im guessing sleep will be a favorite pastime lol.
  9. Hey Cary, The school does not go with your accumulated GPA. They only count the pre-req courses- AP I,II, with labs, Chem with Lab, EnC. Dont worry about withdrawls. I had withdrew from A&P I, then retook it and got an A. Other schools do look at that but your safe with Broward. And definitely do as best you can on your hesi. They will use that as a tie breaker if you have the same amount of points as someone else fighting for the same seat. Also, keep in mind with having the same amount of points as another person, they will also count the classes needed to graduate (micro, etc.). So if you have any of those classes done, they will use those as points in the case of a tie as well. Good luck!!!
  10. Man...I tried registering in the beginning of summer and it said I wasnt allowed (special deliminator w permission needed or something like that). Im sure its going to be crazy overwhelming especially with having to take the math class too!!!! I started looking up ways to make our schedule and with having to add both pharm and math in..looks like it will be a 5 days a week. Process on Mon & Friday...Clinicals Tuesday and Wed, math or pharm monday night etc. Good luck though, I hope you pass!! :)
  11. "I will be taking the CPR/BLS from a MDC teacher who teaches the class at his home for $35. He will do classes with groups of three up to 12. Anyone interested in doing the class? I start Micro on Monday at Central so life is going to be crazy. I bought shoes and two sets of scrubs today so I don't have to deal with a crowd at Central later. They have a tiny room with a mirror to try different sizes on. The gal in the bookstore says they only order on shirt per student registered and they run out because none buys just one shirt. Im taking micro at central on monday too!!! What time are you there? Im doing mon-thur 230-830 (with a 2 hour break bw classes) Not looking forward to that crazy schedule lol. Im definitely down to do that class... I cant private message on here yet..not enough posts
  12. Hey Everyone!!! Just want to say congrats to everyone who made it in, and keeping my fingers crossed for everyone that is still waiting to hear back! I made it in for last May's class, but I was one of the students who deferred their seat to the fall. I am super excited to get this started!! Has everyone taken all their certification credits? I just registered for ceufast.com. I heard that you can get everything done on there online (except obviously CPR) and for cheap! Anyone know of a good place to take CPR? So little time to get SO much done!!! See you all at orientation!!
  13. Hey Peds, Your taking pharm now?! I thought we werent allowed to take the math or pharm until the first semester of school? I wish I knew this earlier. Im taking micro starting Monday to get that over with. I would have took pharm last semester if I knew we were allowed!!
  14. Thanks for the advice! What about learning vitals and bedmaking and all that stuff that Broward requires you to do in their HCP core? I got waived for that and I havent done those skills in years... hope this isnt a problem bc I dont think they teach you that over in NP which is where we will be tested on that... If they do that at SHeridan then I can kill 2 birds with one stone...
