Broward College Acceptance

Published

hey to all,

right now i am at a lost for words because i just checked my email with broward college and i was accepted, so i know that others must have received a confirmation. just to confirm it i called and spoke with twanna burnee and she confirmed it. so, good luck to all others who have applied. to be completely honest, i really didn't expect to get accepted since it was a very last minute thing. cheers to me and others for the summer program!!!!!!!! i am in, i am really in.........:yeah::yeah::yeah::yeah:

Yes, I was referring to the Pharm class at BCC. it is 2 credits. I would strongly urge you to pull all the stops out to pass the class as it will make your work load less once you are in the program at BC.

Good luck. 595 is a bear with the overpasses but u can go I 95 and get off at the Davie exit- more lights etc but it's an alternative route.

2Bnurse1, are you planning to continue to work if you get into the May class and if you do, how many hours do you intend to work if you don't mind me answering.

you dont know how happy i will be to tell these ppl kiss my ****** im quitting lol.

i plan to move in with my moms, and try to see if i can find something like 2 nights a week at the hospital. but definately i wont be working first semester. 2nd semester i will start looking for a job as unit secretary or nurse tech.

Newgoal you have a online job for me?? Im good with computers and can do every java program out there

Ok, my sis is back from the orientation at Central BC campus. She said that you CAN defer but you have to do it intime for them to notify others. All you need to do is to email the lady.

The schedule is a bit brutal- only 1 weekday off i.e Thursday

MF- 8-noon Lecture 12 wks

Monday- Pharm 5- 7:20pm

Tuesday - Clinicals 6:30on to 5pm

Wednesday - 6:30pm 5pm

Thursday - off

Friday - Math 1-5pm for 3wks

Start registration 3/12th at noon

Registration should be completed by March 17th at 4pm

U may want to double check

She also said that they accepted 500 applications and admitted 140 students. This seems like a mini-record to me. Some of the students will also be at the Davie/Central campus. And I believe she said that all the alternates were 'IN' so 2Bnurse1, I think that u may be in.

Hi Newgoal, man your sis told you told you to the tee! all your info is correct. I got in!! it was such a smooth process...i thought they were gonna call the names of the alternates one by one as the seats became available but instead she just said to everyone " you are no longer considered an alternate anymore".

Alot of students defer there seats and even if you were an alternate you could still defer. Sunraygurl if you defer your seat your GUARANTEED a seat in the next selection. (but rules change all the time)

This selection was only suppose to be for the North campus, but its turns out that Central had spots open so students come this May can register either at Central or North. (good news right)

Do you know of a place where I can get my physical done at a reduced cost?

When are you moving back to Broward Newgoal?

congrats 2bnurse. i think that she may defer because of the hectic pace of the May class and because she is taking 9 credits now, she needs a break to be recharge. Also, it would be good to get some of the reading down and the pharmacy. My other sis in the South class says that Pharmacy is one of the hardest things in the first semester to get over as well as health assessment.

You may want to get the pharm book or any used pharm book and start reading on the generic/trade names, contraindications etc and the flash cards. Also, read the 100 pages in the Potter and Perry book on Health assessments.

Congrats again.

CONGRATS 2B!! That is awesome news. Thanks for telling me about the deferrals. Now I am almost positive I will be applying once this semester is over and meanwhile I will figure out when I could start.

Congrats again, thats great!

As far as the physical goes, I don't know what BC requires, but you can probably go to a walk in clinic for pretty cheap. Here's one that does them for $50.

http://www.solantic.com/sfl_services_physicals.asp

Click on the Adult/Basic tab, and then it will have a list of what it includes, as well as some extras, such as EKG etc., along with the costs, so you can see if its what you need.

Hey congrats 2B.. I was also accepted, The thing im trying to figure out now is, what campus to go to.. I know there are a limited amount of seats at central.. I orignially wanted to go to north, becuase i have heard it is a much better run program over there. Its bigger teachers are more helpful and that central was not that good. The problem im running into is. I live not even a half of a mile from central.. Walking distance. Has anyone heard anythign about the difference between north and central. I mean central would be so much more ideal. Help please

i have heard that North is better then south and then central. However, you may want to take into consideration the drive to North. Also, on Monday's u are basicall there all day as it would make little sense to drive home at noon only to fight traffic to be back at 5. However, ifyou don't work, the drive time may not be an issue. Also, I believe that Central is a bit more anal. Unless I am getting confused, I heard that you have to wear your scrubs to get into the labs at /Central, whereas at South you do on, only during clinicals at the hospital. . I am not sure about North but that is a small potato.

Good luck with your choice and keep us posted on your studies/journey during the summer. It is going to be a very, very, fast pace ride.

Eek! I am not moving back anytime soon. I visit every 3-4 months and that is enough for me. I got my undergrad from Barry University and A.S from BCC- south. I prefer the slower pace of Tampa :wink2:

This semester I finish my prereqs and then I will be applying to evening/weekend program on June 1 for the Jan 2010 class. this is the one think I don't like about Hillsborough Community College...there is an extraordinary long time from the time u can apply to the class that you are applying for so count yourselves luck at BC.

However, I will have this summer and Fall free but I intend to take Chemistry, Dev Psych and medical terminology this summer. Then, I intend to immerse myself in the books that I have purchased i.e Pharmacy Demystified and Potter & Perry Fundamentals of Nursing. Having one sister in the program and be a voracious reader of this site has made me want to overprepare as I have to continue to work fulltime.

I will find out where my other sis did her physicals/shots and get back this evening.

I have couple questions about the May program, can anyone please help me out.

1. Is the first semester(May program) that is shorthen , or ALL the semesters?

2. What is the average length nursing of each semester (im thinking 8 weeks but not sure).

Thank you.

Everyone is talking about the intensity of the May program and is going to defer there seat. Thanks for the clarity

my other sis in the south class says that pharmacy is one of the hardest things in the first semester to get over as well as health assessment.

this is only true for south campus. if you take pharm at north or central with dr. k. and earn less than a b, shame on you!! if you plan to attend north or central do not start reading for pharm. don't even buy the book. he gives detailed slides. you only need the packet and the study guide.

north campus is on coconut creek parkway just north of atlantic near the turnpike. it's about 20 mins from central if there isn't any traffic on i95 and i595.
